Guests appreciate the updated rooms and friendly staff. While the resort's beach is small, its on-site dive shop is a major draw, offering easy access to diving right off the dock. We arrived past our checkin time (4:45) due to delayed flights and our rooms were not ready, we waited until 5:15 to finally get to our rooms. Rooms, pool and beach bars all great and slept like a baby.....

Everything was great while I was there. I had a real difficult time contacting the location with my questions. I called and was one hold for over an hour and then left a message. Didn’t get return calls. So I had unanswered questions that honestly worked out just fine. I had the same issue with emailing the dive shop- never got a return email. So I didn’t schedule anything or get my questions answered but everything sounds like there needs to be zero plans and diving is easy there. When I got there the shop wouldn’t let us dive until the next day after this orientation they only do at 930am. So I lost a half day of diving for this 20 min orientation. I asked if I could pay for it to be done when I arrived and I was told ‘no Bc people that fly in are tired and dehydrated.’ I’m a mom of young kids. I was pretty disappointed in this. And I kept being told everything was booked up and I should have scheduled ahead. It was said to me consistently. But it wasn’t all booked up. I went on boat dives and did everything I wanted. I just asked them to let me know if things opened up and things always did. I just felt like they are use to the same divers coming years after years or divers that have been to Bonaire many times that they aren’t use to new people asking questions. At one point I had to tell the person at the dive shop that I am asking questions Bc I do not know the answer. After organizing these details- I had a great time. The resort and workers were so fun and nice.

The Divi Flamingo, (part of a chain of Divi hotels) is one of the oldest resorts on Bonaire. It is a favorite with scuba divers and a broad range of vacationers of all ages from USA and Europe. There are many small restaurants in the central area but are not easy to locate due to the street layout. In my opinion they are not worth the effort to get to. The two Divi Flamingo restaurants offer a wide range of food that is reasonably priced. Quality and service are excellent ( even by tourist venue standards--i.e. anyone who is well travelled or in the hospitality business knows that only restaurants relying on repeat business have to be good ) This is the place to stay and eat. This is our 5th trip and 2nd stay.

I've been coming to this hotel for years and I still like staying here. The rooms have been updated in the past couple of years. There are several pools for kids and adults. The food at the Chibi Chibi restaurant in the hotel is good. The breakfeast buffet at Calabas is nice as well. It's a short distance to town so if you don't want to dine here every night you can go into town on foot or you can find good dining around the corner and some other places two blocks from the hotel. There is a good dive shop on site for scuba divers and they have their own small beach. It's very close to the airport but not too close.

The Divi Hotel is a great place to stay. The location is a close walk to town and about 5-10 minute drive from the airport. Since our previous stay 2 years ago, they have nicely renovated the lobby and have upgraded some of the furniture in the rooms. They are now expanding the bathrooms in the studios. The staff is friendly and accommodating and the rooms are clean. Don't go for the beach. It is very small but do go for the diving. Even if you are not a diver, this if the place to give it a try. It is the most accessible diving. You can start by going right off their dock.

After reading a scathing review of this hotel the day before departure I didn't know what to expect. We arrived around 10pm and found the check in clerk very pleasant. We had an oceanfront room on the lower level which, although dated, was comfortable and clean but the mattress on the bed was too soft. Being rainy season, there were always puddles of water in the hallway. There is not a lot of beach on the property so I stayed at the pool while my husband went diving. The diving facility on the property was very good. The meals were expensive but very good. Breakfast buffet had continental and american style food. It was an easy walk into town through the back gate. At checkout there was 1 error on the bill regarding the mini-bar (bottled water) but was taken care of satisfactorily. Having to leave at 5am, the front desk reserved a cab for us the night before. It would be nice if the hotel had a van or something to pick up/drop off guests at the airport. It is a nice, quiet, laid back resort and I certainly would stay there again.

First off, they overcharged us for minibar on multiple days when they never had a stocked minibar in our room in the first place. I called to contest the charge. The woman on the phone was polite but uttely useless. We ended paying for it. \nWe booked the hotel through online travel, and it turned out to be the cheapest package all around. \nThe hotel is centrally located, close to the airport and town, walking distance to a convenience store. However, you still need to rent a car to go anywhere. They never changed the sheets we slept in for the week; which is ok with us since they made a point about water conservation. \nThe hotel beach has a small reef and a sandy beach and is quite charming, fun and safe for the children. I go back because of the steep discount, in addition, the room was right on the beach and had a breathtaking view. Check your bill carefully before your departure; I am still fuming at their carelessness and/or dishonesty.
