Santa Marta Marriott Resort Playa Dormida

The food at this hotel was amazing. We did not have a single bad meal, and as an American it was very inexpensive. And the staff was very friendly and very helpful in arranging transportation. The beach is a little more active than what I'm used to - people are trying to sell you bracelets, trinkets, massages, mangoes, beer, but they were not nearly as aggressive as in Cartagena. But you do not have this issue at the pool. The ocean was clear and warm. Weather was perfect beach weather. I liked my room, the bed was comfortable, had a nice balcony, slept well. This hotel is very close to the airport, so planes fly by close, they are very loud for about 30 seconds, but maybe only 10 times a day.

Nice staff, but bedding smelled as if someone slept in beds already for both booked rooms. Requested replacement. Room feels very damp/humid in the sheets. Hotel is a bit limited for transport as taxis not available instead must use their transport at a premium. Some of the vans very uncomfortable no view to the outside. Food at the principle restaurant was mediocre and expensive for what it was. Not many options in Santa Marta but this hotel is a 6.5-7/10

Room not ready until 4:30 pm. We had visitors and hotel requested that visitor register and only 3 people could be allowed in the suite. I have traveled many cities and only question is how many guess. These place check id and took copies ok thier id. Ridiculous .

Beautiful hotel with wonderful staff. The uplifting handwritten note by housekeeping each day was such a nice touch. Great food and service at the restaurants. Nice beach access. The only difficulty is that the hotel is close to the airport and the planes are loud—not a lot of flights though.

Beautiful place with a good pool and beach. Staff is super friendly. The lobby always smells great!! 30 minutes away from the city and only 5 from the airport(fortunately airport is open until 10:30 pm).

Very nice property and excellent staff. Terrible location far from everything. Not kidding about close to the airport. All conversations stop as the plane's flyover every 20 min. Did not like the electric fence separating the hotel from the condos managed by same property. Most expensive hotel in town next to the most expensive condos,..Needs electric fence for separation? An American experience in beautiful Columbia. Similar to a Cruise ship. Gringolandia.

Beautiful property, although bit pricey for Colombia standards but the amazing service, restaurants and how lively this place it is makes up for the price. There are always taxis on groud floor and staff is happy to arrange them. On property restaurants are really good as well. Happy with our stay, it definitely made our trip to Santa Marta worthwhile, would definitely book it again. Suite rooms do cone with a powder room, so that was a huge plus for our party of 3.
