Novotel Bordeaux Mérignac

Stayed here from the 21st-24th of August and then booked again 30th - 31st of August prior to our flight home. The hotels lobby and restaurant area are very modern and clean. Staff were always helpful and friendly. Restaurant is good quality food and drinks and brilliant service for both breakfast and evening meal. We had a basic room and it was a little dated but it was clean on both occasions. Enough plugs and lights etc. The outdoor area of the hotel is good for children, there are games to play eg badminton and connect 4 and plenty of seats. The pool area is clean but there are loose patio slabs and the steps come right out of the concrete - needs sorting for safety but otherwise the children enjoyed the pool and the hotel provide pool towels too. The only the other thing about the outside area is the amount of mosquitos - I know this is out of the hotels control but I’m mentioning it to ensure you use mosquito protection at all times because I had over 30 bites within an hour of being outside. The hotel is 2 stops away from the airport - Tram line A. This line also takes you straight into the city centre so the convenience of the hotel is perfect for stopover for airport or a cheaper option to explore the city centre. Really nice hotel with fantastic facilities. Great base to explore the centre of Bordeaux. Team stop right outside the hotel. 2 stops one way to the airport and then around 20 minutes the other way straight into the centre of Bordeaux. Pool really nice and lots of restaurants within walking distance as well as one on site.

Convenient and modern hotel with parking. Table tennis hammocks and other outdoor games a hit with the kids. Would have got 5 stars if restaurant offered more vegetarian choice and restaurant staff weren’t grumpy!

Disappointments: No shuttle to the airport Difficult access to the room : 1 entrance at the other side of the hotel Bedding was not good

we love novotel when we travel check if there is novotel and if there is we book it we love it

We were surprised to see all the changes at the Novotel. They have massively redecorated and it looks very nice. However, check in is sketchy...someone with a laptop computer and a mobile phone who isn't always at the desk. The bar didn't turn the lights on until 6:00 pm. They had trouble finding the available room configuration we booked. The restaurant is good. Breakfast was adequate but not great. What French breakfast doesn't have several choices of cheese! They have also stopped having a shuttle to the airport and the taxi we booked through the hotel the night before arrived quite late. In the end we shared it with another couple because theirs didn't arrive. The taxi charged €30 for about a two mile trip to the airport. We will use this hotel again because it is close to the airport and it's nice to have a good restaurant right on site, but they have a few problems they should solve. Since they are so close to the airport and get a lot of business from people who need to go to the airport, they really should provide a shuttle.
