It was a very relaxing and romantic place. The old stile felt genuine. The room had no AC but the fan worked very well, so we felt comfortable in the room. The pool was refreshing. We had dinner both nights and we liked the food and wine. Breakfast was ok but a bit expensive. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. We took a taxi from the airport, costed 23€ and back28€.

The hotel itself is a beautiful old historic building and looks very impressive from the outside. Inside is like a stone cloister with high ceilings - it used to be some kind of monastery, and still has that general feel. My room was on the 2nd floor and there was no lift - I'm fairly young and fit, so it wasn't a problem for me but this could be difficult for older people, disabled people or those with heavy luggage. My room was quite dark, with heavy wood beams in the ceiling and just one small window - and although it had character, it felt rather gloomy. The bathroom was clean but old-fashioned. My biggest issue was the lack of good, reliable Wifi in the rooms - as I was on a business trip and Wifi was essential then I ended up having to go to a local shopping centre to do any work on my laptop. The hotel is situated in the middle of nowhere, 15 minutes from Nantes airport and with very limited facilities in the vicinity. There is ample parking at the front of the building - although the road to access the hotel is little more than a dirt track with large potholes everywhere and really needs resurfacing. I appreciate that is probably the responsibility of the local council rather than the hotel itself though. The reception desk is open during limited hours - if you want to check out before 7.00am then you need to advise them in advance and pay your bill the night before (although this was not explained to me when I checked in)
