The Inn at Dromoland

Very nice hotel with parking onsite, pub onsite as well as food. Gold down the road, caves etc etc

This is a nice hotel in a lovely quiet location. The room was very comfortable and clean. I wasn't too impressed by the menu choice in the bar, plus we had to make reservations. We paid in advance for our breakfast the following morning only to learn that breakfast didn't start until 7.00am. Our taxi for the airport was picking us up at 6.30am. No compensation offered. I did feel that $248 per night was a little steep.

The facility is first-rate and very child-friendly (though I was not traveling with a child). The only reason I gave it a 4 rather than a 5 was that it had surprisingly spotty wifi that didn't always work in my room (though it worked in the lobby and the bar). It was like 1994-quality internet. But the staff were very helpful and everything was resolved. And dinner was delicious!

The room was spacious and clean. It was difficult that to reach the second floor, one had to travel the full length of one of the corridors of the first floor to reach them at a far end of the hotel. If walking is an issue, this is not a hotel to stay in. The breakfast was a buffet: hot, varied, delicious and the servers were very attentive to one's needs. We had to eat off site the first night because they were having a wedding the next day and the staff couldn't accommodate the wedding guests and regular hotel guests. We found that in many locations, a lack of staff as a consequence of COVID. Many were up front with their explanations and we made other plans, and it was a good result for us.

We booked this hotel because it was close to Shannon airport and we had an early morning flight. We were pleasantly surprised with the size of the facility and the various sitting areas and dining areas. There was easy parking in front of the Inn. The room was a good size and for the low cost a very good deal. Sure the rugs could have stood to be replaced as they were old and the bed had a coil spring mattress instead of foam but still you simply can't beat it for the price and convenience to getting to SNN. Staff was very nice and helpful. We had dinner a some beers in the pub and the food and drinks were all very good. Overall a very nice place to stay!
