Savoy Grand Hotel Apartments

Always a pleasure to stay at the Savoy Grand in Muscat. It is not grand, but everything works --- AC, fridge and hot water --- the beds are comfortable and the staff are extremely helpful. Only 10-15 mins drive from the airport, there is also a city bus from the airport almost to the hotel door. The Bamboo restaurant next door serves an excellent variety of food, and there's a good supermarket 5 mins up the road.

This was definitely a good value for money. Being one of the cheapest hotels in Muscat on offer, you can't really expect too much, but it was quite decent after all. Spacious enough, quite clean, good condition, very good customer service... and at least for me, the location was quite good. Muscat is huge and distances between the different points of interest are sometimes 15-20 km. Savoy Grand is just about 7-8 km from the airport and there's maybe at least 25 km from the old town, the palace, the national museum, Mutrah souq and the port. The hotel is very close to a public bus stop on the main highway that passes from West to East (from the airport to the old part of town). There are multiple shopping malls and places of attraction around that road, so it's really convenient in that sense.

Very good value for money, and staff were extremely nice and helpful. The hotel is quite far from the center, but very close to main bus station and main bus route in Muscat. A tip: taxis are very expensive but micro-busses run very near the hotel and are very cheap and run quite frequently.
