Overview

The Ancor Hotel offers a convenient location for travellers needing to be near the airport, with some guests noting its proximity to the American Embassy. Rooms are described as clean, modern, and recently renovated. While guests appreciate the cleanliness and helpful staff, some drawbacks include a lack of elevator, limited parking, and a less-than-ideal access road. The surrounding area is primarily residential with limited amenities, and those who do not have a car might find the hotel's location inconvenient.

This hotel is in the middle of nowhere and seems very uninhabited. I got it because it was cheap and was near the airport, but it's near the wrong airport for international flights. My mistake. But it's very hard to reach unless you have a cab or car. Not much in the area, a starbucks and a couple of small restaurants, and two grocery stores a few minutes away. It was very clean, just empty, and the clerk was the only person in Romania I met who could not speak English. Thus I could not ask for a wake up call. This is probably a "love hotel," where lovers meet for illicit trysts. Overall it's a bit creepy and I would not suggest it for single women. If you want a hotel near the airport for an early flight, make sure you book for the right airport!

The hotel is a few KM from the airport if you have a rented car it will be convenient to stop there before an early leave. The area is not "great" per se but there are shops nearby. The lobby/entrance area is not that great, there is no elevator. However once entered the room it was very nice clean modern, just renovated, with working AC, so all great, worth 4/5 . Beds were too hard very thin materass.. quite disappointing.

My wife is Romanian. We travelled to visit her family and stayed at Hotel Ancor prior to flying home. The first night was great. We arrived to a friendly desk clerk. She was helpful and allowed us to book an extra night at a discounted rate. The rooms are clean and nice. The desk clerk the second night, however, wasn't nearly as friendly or helpful. I noticed she had been there for almost 24 hours though. My wife says this is normal for Romanian hotels though. That the staff will work 24 hour shifts. I guess I wouldn't be as friendly if I had to work 24 hours straight either. Overall, a nice hotel. Nothing really around the hotel other than residential housing, a Starbucks and couple of restaurants and supermarkets. The hotel definitely needs an elevator or more helpful staff. We were in Romania for 2 weeks with our infant son and we had a lot of luggage and a stroller. They had us on the 3rd floor. It was not fun getting all of my luggage down 3 stories without an elevator or any hotel assistance.

very nice and new looking hotel, although far from everything and off the main road. However , very convenient if you want to stay close to the airport, or are coming in late at night. residential neighborhood with nothing to see or do, supermarket close by, trip to downtown Bucharest by taxi will cost about 20 ron, appx 6 or 7 USD. Hotel staff was very friendy and accomodating.
