Maria's By the Sea Hotel

The rooms were very spacious and clean. I was impressed when I saw a small sewing kit in the bathroom. Everyone was friendly. Especially Jessie at the restaurant. Hotel was also very close to the ferry terminal and it was a quick walk to the hotel. I absolutely love it there and I will be back

Close to Ferry dock and Cruise terminal... Safe area to walk around with good restaurants close by. Car rental on property, nice pool and friendly staff.

Very happy w Maria’s. I booked based on other good reviews. My room was on par with many business hotels I’ve stayed at in major US cities. It’s a short walk from the ferry terminal and close to many restaurants. It was very convenient after a long day of travel before picking up a charter boat. Definitely would stay again.

Easy access to ferry terminal and restaurants

2 minute walk from the ferry terminal, taxi stand in front of the hotel, restaurant on site with ocean side terrace, lots of shops and restaurants nearby. arranged a ride the day before with one of the taxis to get to the airport today, worked seamlessly.

Very please with this hotel. We just got back from a week in Tortola. Maria’s is about a 20 minute taxi drive from the airport. Hotel is nicely located with convenient walking access to plenty of restaurants, grocery stores, cruise pier, taxi stands, and the ferry terminal. The overall hotel and room were clean. Staff was friendly. We enjoyed 4 meals here: 2 breakfasts and 2 dinners. The cost for the meals was comparable to those of restaurants in the surrounding area. Our room had a fabulous AC unit. The common spaces were open with many fans. With highs in the low 80s, the temperature of the hotel was lovely. The hotel has an associated car rental. We didn’t use this because I was frankly scared of driving on the left side of the road. :D The hotel has great views of Road Town’s harbor and of the hills in the island’s center. Loved watching the cruise ships and ferries move about, as well as the numerous sail boats. We would stay at this hotel again without hesitation.

Conveniently located for business travelers, staffed for friendly, courteous, efficient service in all departments, with a very good dining room. Spacious rooms and very comfortable beds. Fast and reliable internet connection, but addition of a desk surface and an office chair would be welcome,

The food was good and it was in an area closer to the airport

My family had arrived on Tortola via the ferry terminal and needed a hotel right near the ferry because we were leaving again very early the next morning to move on to our final destination on another island. I chose Maria's because it is walking distance to the ferry terminal. It was barely a 5 minute walk for my family of 4, including wheeling suitcases. No taxi is needed. I found the ladies at the front desk to be very polite, welcoming and helpful. Our room was extremely clean, comfortable and had excellent air-conditioning, which made it easy to sleep well at night. The beds were comfortable and the shower was great too. It was also nice to have a balcony, even though it just overlooked the town and parking lot. We enjoyed having the pool for a bit and the overall exterior pool area was very clean but the pool water itself was not clean. We ended up using the nearby skimmer ourselves to clean it ourselves. It was the off season (August) but a worker should visit the pool 3 times a day for regular vacuuming and skimming. It felt a bit unsanitary to swim in. It had hair, bugs and foam on the surface of the water. It was fun though watching the nearby chickens and roosters entertain us while we swam. We didn't try their restaurant but ate at the surprisingly excellent Italian trattoria across the street. Overall, this is a basic 3-star hotel. With a bit more attention to beautification of the lobby and staircase areas, this could be a 3.5 or 4 star hotel.
