Irotama Resort

We liked everything! from the moment we were picked up from the airport ,even though we were late due to a delay of the flight . The whole staff was wonderful,the food chices were good, and the drinks were very delicious. We definetly coming back again.

Overall rating was 3 based on the fact of limited buffet and quality of food. I am not saying the food was bad, but had higher expectations if you compare to buffets in 5 star properties around the Caribbean or south east Asia. Operational staff were extremely attentive and would go above and beyond to make sure you were looked after, only hiccup is the security guards within the perimeter who as on a constant power trip and trip people outside of your party like trash. My elderly parents were staying near by and would come to pick me up in a taxi to go for dinner in the old city or drop me off and then we would plan to walk together to their place…. Anyhow, the security guard suggested they needed to be escorted as they were afraid the resort facilities would be used. Really? Treat like that a 70year old that can only walk slowly, to go with his son and wife to the other side of the resort via the beach, do we pose any type of security threat? Come on. I received an apology from a staff member, but unfortunately it happened again on 2 other occasions.

A great resort, compared to the price of other hotels close by, this one is by far the best option if you want to relax by the beach and the pool. It has easy access to the beach with tents and chairs available all along the hotel. There are multiple pools to pick from, with a big one in the middle that’s great for kids. The service staff is very attentive and polite, the breakfast buffet is great, with plenty of options to pick from. There’s something for everyone and there’s a small shopping center at walking distance but getting a taxi from the hotel is safe and sometimes cheaper than getting one outside.

We stayed on the boogalo , 4 people make sure to add age of your kids befire booking up your travel, rooms are ok, old and bed (mattress)are a litle firm, rooms are quite, security is very good you woll be safe, we just got breakfast plan , so we used to have breakfast at 10:00am ( excellent breakfast) and enjoy the beach and pool until 2:00 pm them there is a small shopping center with excellents restaurants 9 mt walking, i do recoment taking the taxi cup , is only $2 one way , security will call you the cap for you, o you can go santamarta downtown and get a nice meal for $ 10 to $12 per person with drinks. Now the instalation for the hotel are very good, has alot to do, and the beach is amazing, i do recoment this hotel is a paradise and santamarta has many thing to do.

The resort was beautiful, but that was it. Absolutely no information available for guests such as signing in to WIFI or anything. In fact, when I finally reached someone on the phone they said that to reach the front desk by calling a 5 digit number rather than zero but there was no pen or paper available to write it down. Since I had a broken foot and severe diarrhea, this was very inconvenient. To make matters worse, I specifically booked this place because it was close to the airport and I needed a shuttle. But the shuttles were hours apart and because of my illness, I had to hire a cab. But when we got to the airport, I could see that a shuttle from the hotel was moving just three buses in front of me. So they did have a shuttle but forced me to pay extra for cab. This was a snooty resort that was not user friendly at all. Oh and they made me walk back to reception on a broken foot although I specifically asked for a cart.
