Excellent location, very convenient, lots of nearby sites, stores, pharmacies, restaurants, bus station, parks, etc. Very cozy rooms and nice architectural building. Parking is not in the property, but at a nearby ( 5 min walk ) public parking lot at no cost to the hotel customers. Honestly, once checked in, better walk around rather than trying to drive around.

The property quickly resembles early 1900 Spanish build. Considering central area, costs and room size it's very competitive and i can honestly say the day time staff made our stay and visit the best experience. We were happy with the overall condition. Room for improvement is the bigger suits needs better door locks and the parking after 8-9pm can be a pain if you have your own rental but at least it's included. We really loved the place i have no problem visiting again. But for more modern hotels i would suggest north of downtown like road to Progresso almost leaving the city which are also more expensive. If don't see any modern hotels worth the extra money within the downtown area which is where the majority of the culture celebrates and shops

The place appeared nice, however it had been raining and it was tile thruout so walking wzs very slippery. The stairs to our room was not lit, our window did not lock, our phone did not work and our towels were torn. The general manager was very nice and called us a taxi the next morning.

This hotel isn't ready for guests. We arrived 9th November to find the hotel covered in Government signs and tape saying that the hotel hasn't complied with safety laws and is closed. The hotel Manager says it is only because they "haven't paid some taxes" which may be so but the place is still a building site and builders are still wandering around. As one of the other reviews mentioned, what is open (which is very limited) isn't finished well. There's no food/restaurant, bar, etc., the Wi-Fi only works in the lobby, and most of the furnishings are missing from the rooms (don't believe the hotel pictures). To make matters worse, the hotel told us we coulde only stay there for 1 nightonly(instead of 2) but we'd need to move to a different hotel the following night. In the morning, they told us we could do our tour and they'd move our bags to the new hotel and we could just head straight there in the afternoon. We did that only to find the Lavanda had changed their mind, cancelled our booking at the new hotel and not told us. When we finally got back to complain, they couldn't care less. Probably the worse hotel service I've ever had in travelling 54 countries. I imagine this might be a nice hotel one day but I would avoid it until they sort out their affairs, their staff and their building work.

This hotel is not yet ready for guests. There was construction tape around the pool, tile being replaced in the courtyard, the showerhead moved in the wall, sloppy tile work and painting in the room, one bedside light did not work, there were no electric outlets in the bedroom except behind the night stands. The listing states wi-fi in rooms, free water in rooms ... neither of these is available. At nearly $100 US per night, these are things that I expect to be available and in working order. On the plus side . . . the bed was comfortable, the A/C worked beautifully, there was an in-room safe, hair dryer, iron, TV with cable (but no English channels if that's important to you), mini-bar with beverages and snacks (but all for cost). The courtyard is lovely, bar service available, but slow. On-site restaurant offered breakfast, etc. Breakfast was not included in our high cost room, yet our traveling companions had breakfast included at a much lower nightly rate. Buyer beware. All in all, not yet ready for prime time. Maybe with some repairs and improvements, but in our opinion, not worth the cost for a hotel in the San Juan area of Merida.
