Hotel Riu Madeira - All Inclusive

Great stay with family! Workers were all pleasant and friendly and helpful. Very close to the airport and Funchal which are huge benefits.

The property was nice and there is a free bus to Funchal. Handy for a day out. What I didn't like was being lied to. When I booked this trip we were flying with SATA, there was an issue with the plane and we ended up losing a day. from out holiday. So I called directly to the hotel to cancel the one night x 2 so I wouldn't be charged. The employee cancelled the day, or so I thought. When we arrived at RUI Mederia the head lady told us that there was a mistake made and the whole stay at the hotel was cancelled. Before we could check in we had to agree to pay for the rooms that were not used even though I had followed the process. Very disappointed in RUI's handling of the situation. We never asked for the stay to be extended and understood that we were not entitled to an extra day. But, I wanted to be refunded for what was not used.

We travelled with our family of 11 people and we were all extremely happy. Rooms were clean and beds comfy. Food had a different variety everyday. Staff was always prompt.

Staff excellent, rooms and general areas very clean, good choice at buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The free shuttle to Funchal an added bonus. Great location, supermarkets and cafes within walking distance, areas nearby along promenade to swim in sea.

A fantastic place, well managed and friendly. Food and drink always "on tap" very easy access to and from airport and the courtesy bus into Funchal was a welcome bonus. Almost certainly we will be returning

Great stay, staff at the restaurant and bars amazing, particularly Erica and Edson and Julian at the bar. Ivo by the lounges was great too. Having great staff is really the hotel’s UVP! The only sour point was right at the end with a taxi booking that was mishandled - we almost did not make it in time to be able to clear check in and security for our flight… unnecessary stress when travelling with a baby.

Great hotel for a short break. Rooms modern and clean, food great, drinks great. Location not so, nothing around really. They do provide a free shuttle into Funchal thats about 15 mins away. Having stayed in a few RIU hotels before this has the least restaurants, activities and entertainment than any other. 1 bookable restaurant that holds 30 and closed 2 night's a week, not good enough really. We stayed for 3 nights, couldn't get in. All done via the app which is great when works. Reception not very accommodating or flexible regarding this. If you want to see all Funchal as to offer which is beautiful consider staying in town, we did for 2 night's first. Summing it up, nothing wrong with the hotel but nothing that memorable either.
