Candlewood Suites Savannah Airport, an IHG Hotel

The suite was nice and the hotel was located in a good spot. There was a little noise from the airport and the highway, but nothing crazy. The bed was very comfy. The only down side was the room we had, had a broken kitchen drawer when we arrived and the cleaning done before we arrived was less than satisfactory (nothing a little Lysol didn’t fix).

The desk clerks were very nice and helpful. The pool however was closed indefinitely and with the brutal heat and humidity would have been a nice respite. There was also a notice that their shuttle was also out of service for an indefinite time period as well. As I walked to my room I noticed that two doorway frames for guest hotel rooms were broken which is a fire code violation. The door closer to my room was not properly working as well and would get stuck halfway through closing causing me to pull the door shut. This Candlewood Suites use to be located across the street in another building and was formerly another hotel chain. I plan to stay at the hotel that replaced their original building location next time.

This hotel still has smoking rooms. Even though their are only a few rooms designated for smoking, the odor and smoke can be smelled in the hallways, elevators and even in rooms that did not have the smoking designation. The odor cheapens the overall image of the hotel and is a deterent to would be travelers such as myself.

I liked the size of the space, the complete kitchen, the operable window which looked out over the pool, ample parking, newness, cleanliness, air-conditioning unit noise level, staff courtesy, excellent location (exit 104 at Sav airport), clean lavatory/tub, and general lack of banging/noise in the corridor by other guests. The only negative was the room cleaner/fragrance that is just too much and too heavy and permeates the space. The operable window did help air this space out.
