Overview

The Ramada by Wyndham Hamilton City Centre offers a convenient city centre location with many nearby restaurants and shops. Guests appreciate the hotel's generally clean rooms and friendly staff. However, reviews highlight significant inconsistencies in the experience. While some guests praise the free on-site parking, many others report it as limited and difficult to access, sometimes leading to the need for expensive off-site parking. Room sizes are noted as smaller than expected by some guests, and the overall condition of the hotel appears to vary based on individual experiences, with some finding it slightly run-down while others describe it as clean and comfortable. The hotel's amenities are basic; some essential items such as toiletries may not always be provided.

Basics I have come to expect missing - no chair nor microwave in room. On the main shopping street so central. Parking $20 if you want to use hotel parking - you are informed of this when booking. Staff friendly.

Clean spacious unit for our 2 night stay. Was expensive, but I was able to request 1 double and 2 king single beds. The unit contained 2 doubles! Not what was requested. I was advised we could transfer for 2nd night to the 3 bed unit, but not our error. No refund has yet been received to recompense for their error!

First impressions started off bad with the unethusiastic checkin by reception. I checked in at 1.48pm (check in at 2pm) asked if that was ok. They assigned me a room i went up to it and it was being cleaned. I have never seen cleaning staff out during check in time. Went back to reception and was assigned another room. Asked about parking. Paid parking was full so was offered outside parking, not going to complain about tight spot as it was free but keep this in mind that no one parked in this spot because it was tight. Once in room. The creakiest bed ive ever slept on. No extra lock on the door. Paper thin walls. Didnt mind walking but could hear full on conversations. When we left at 3.30am to get a late night snack the front door was pretty much open (Saturday night drunks) the only good thing i have to say is about the customer service offered to us from the man on Saturday night who let us get our car out and let us back in. Overall when i first heard about this hotel ive always wanted to stay. Thought it held some sort of prestige. But the only thing youre really paying for is location. It went from the start, bad customer service to worst room conditions to the dodgiest hallway to the carpark, trying to relax but hearing full on conversations in the hallway. Will not stay here again.

Receptionist was underwhelming. The peraon that helped us sort our parking was much more polite and had a lovely disposition.

Great location, and eateries all around, easy parking and perfect access to the city centre. Staff upgraded our room with no fuss to accommodate for an extra person.

Got a free upgrade on arrival as there was something room with the room I booked. Place as a whole had a bit of a musty smell and felt a little run down but the room itself was perfectly fine. There is free parking onsite but it is first in first served and not a lot of car spaces - also a bit of Tetris to get a space!

Quite possibly the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. Even travelling third world countries I’ve experienced better facilities than this. The room is tiny, barely enough space to walk around either side of the bed, for booking and paying for a “king room” one would assume there would be more space. The shower leaked water on all sides leaving the bathroom floor soaked and slippery. Questionable stains in toilet, unusable wardrobe due to strange smell. Zero soundproofing, a loud mini fridge and a heat pump rattling due to missing bolts meant that we had about an hour of sleep. Walking through the hotel corridors is like a maze and the location seems to attract an interesting mix of patrons (locals knocking on our door at 2am looking for “a party”) I never leave reviews but this one deserved some feedback, a waste of $220.

This was our second time staying at this property, and we enjoy the convenience of being in the city, the secure parking is really good, and the reception staff are very friendly and helpful.

Staff were fabulously friendly and helpful, this unfortunately was contrasted by a venue in need of some tlc and thoughtful renovations. Only 3 spare power outlets in the room, none of which were near the beds. The rooms looked to be painted by Boris, the town drunk. The bathroom doorframe was roughly 1/3 beige and 2/3 white. The wallpaper looked like it had been installed in the seventies. Guest parking was haphazard, thirteen car spaces (give or take) in a courtyard in front of underground gated parking that is labelled "guest parking" but is somehow not available for guests. It was comfortable and did the job. The meals in the attatched restaurant were delicious and the staff were great. Until it came time for the breakfast buffet. Mass produced white bread was disappointing considering the previously ordered delicious sourdough. The quality of the cooked breakfast food seemed let down by the organisation of storage. Items meant to be crispy (roast potato, hash brown) were stored in partitioned bain maries with mushrooms and baked beans, resulting in soggy items that should have been crunchy.
