We booked this one because of the rooftop jacuzzi - we didn't realize until after we got there that it was a surcharge to reserve it. I like that we had it to ourselves, but it was very nickel and dimey. We chose not to eat at the hotel for the free dinner because it was a very specific meal that didn't look appealing to us the nights we stayed there. We stopped by for coffee and cake hour and they only had lemon cake and the coffee machine was broken, so that was a little disappointing. The room was very small and didn't have a fridge, but the location was great and they had parking on site (it was an additional fee, but at least it was right at the front of the hotel). The beds were comfortable and the staff was very friendly.

We bought early check-in, which was very nice due to a very early flight. Very good. However the room was very backyard wit wastw container down under the window. Changed room late on arrival day to a very similar but in direction to a more pleasant view.

I would have enjoyed my stay, but when I arrived, I approached the door and found a note that said the hotel was closed for the week due to the Easter holiday. The note specifically said they tried to notify all their guests about the inconvenience, but I was not notified whatsoever. I looked back and found my Uber to drive away, which I was sent into a panic. I took a closer look at the note and it said I was booked at the Clarion With right across the street. Again, I was never notified of this. The parking lot lacked proper methods of ridding of a massive puddle of ice, so my walk over was a bit slippery, especially with my suitcase in tow. I got to the Clarion With and hoped they had me booked. They did, but I was still furious they never notified that I was being moved hotels. I did consider switching to another hotel due to my inconvenience. Overall, be wary of this hotel's opening hours, especially since they do not contact their guests with the news.

Great location but the rooms are shabby, very dated decor, scratched up, ugly colors, semi-gloss paint on walls (!) , depressing. No alarm clock, but no plug or charging port near bed so your phone is halfway across the room. Have to get up to see the time. No mini fridge no coffee maker. Bares bones. Bathroom bright cold light, ugly design, tiny shower, water gets allover floor. Thin walls, you hear every toilet flush of your neighbor. Nice sauna and jacuzzi but you have to pay extra to use jacuzzi and reserve a time. But it doesn’t open until 11am so for early risers, travelers up early with jet lag, can’t use it. Breakfast buffet was good. Dinner not good. Was hoping to save money by eating dinner there but it was unappetizing/blah (think meatloaf, plain noodles, potatoes in mayonnaise), so went out anyway. Basically way over-priced for what it is. If they hired a decent designer to re-do the rooms and got a better cook for dinner they cook warrant the prices.

Enjoying the rooftop hot tub while it was snowing has been definitely a magical moment. Also the gym and sauna with a lovely view are giving points to the structure. Even if some rooms have carpets and aren't recently renewed, the cleanliness is great and there is everything you need for a comfortable stay. Big ups to the restaurant for the food selection and the staff: everyone is so polite and kind and ready to help and accommodate any specific requests when you have a particular diet (in my case vegan). The only recommendation is you have a car is to be sure that you will reserve a spot in the limited hotel parking space.

This review is solely based on the fact that they would not cancel my reservation after I alerted them that I got stranded in Oslo because the airline lost my luggage and all the time spent trying to sort that out caused me to miss my connecting flight. I could not even get to Tromso, I was having a terrible day already, and then by the time I finished talking to airline staff and able to change my hotel booking, it was 15 minutes after 4pm (which is the cutoff time for cancellations). Even when I explained my situation, they refused to give me a refund for one single day—only 15 MINUTES late. The management had the power to make a call to help someone’s day not get any worse than it already was, and they decided to be unsympathetic jerks about it instead. This speaks volumes about how much they actually care about customers. I ended up having to stay an extra night in Tromso because my bag has still not arrived, and I did not even consider booking this hotel again. And I will actively discourage staying at this hotel to anyone coming to visit Tromso.

Upon arrival, we were disappointed because although parking should have been available based on our hotels.com reservation, we had to use a public, very expensive parking lot, away from the hotel. The room and bed was comfortable. Breakfast and dinner are very good and included in the price, which makes it a great deal. The only downside was that there were just too many guests for this small breakfast / dinner room. There was one night when the hotel was fully booked, and breakfast was pure chaos. People waited for a place to sit, there was no order around the buffet, personnel was trying to win plates back asap to clean them again for new arrivers, some new plates at the buffet were dirty, and everything was a big mess. Not very safe in Corona times either. The hotel was trying their best with fix times for breakfast for the different travel groups, but it was still just too many guests. One thing I would definitely recommend is to book the hot tub on the hotel roof. It is extremely beautiful, with a view of the harbour, and for just 5 EUR for half an hour, you have it to yourself. We booked it all 3 nights and loved it.
