Holiday Inn Muscat Al Seeb, an IHG Hotel

I needed a motel close to the airport and final shopping (City Centre Mall), and Holiday Inn fit the bill well! The motel itself is modern, efficient, and clean. The $10 breakfast buffet was worth it (and cheaper than other motel included breakfasts). The evening buffet ($20) isn't bad for being a bit distant from the city. But guests can also walk around the corner to a nice Persian restaurant or a bit further to City Centre for multiple options. City Center Mall, a higher-end mall, is about a 10-minute walk and has pretty much everything. My only complaint is the OMR 10 ($26) it cost for the "shuttle" taxi to the airport. Most motels this close to a major airport offer free shuttle service to guests. This wasn't even *subsidized*. A normal trip this close would be more like OMR 3.

Property was extremely clean and very nice. Great swimming pool area! Very close to the airport so you could hear the airplanes when you were outdoors but not from inside the room. Great staff!

It is close to the airport. A taxi will take less than 10 minutes (8 OMR). I actually think I saw this hotel in Expedia's map more close to the city so I was surprised about the location; since it was a short business trip I didn't mind but I would not go there for a holiday trip as it's far away from the city. That said it's the best and most modern Holiday Inn I've been. Looks light and airy and fresh. Rooms are nice and comfortable. I asked for a quiet room following advice of other reviewers and was given one looking into other building, with no view. AGain, since I went there only for sleeping I didn't mind. I would recommend asking for a room pointing to the swimming pool.

I had a nice stay here. The hotel is brand new, so rooms do not show wear and tear. The gym is large and nice, the pool is clean and well maintained. My flight arrived late, and the person checking me in Ravindra, was great. He gave me extra water, upgraded my room upon request, and was very helpful in telling me about the facilities. The house keeping staff is good, very attentive. I did not try the food at the restaurants as I was eating out every day. The hotel is located off the main highway 1. Note that the entrance is tricky as you have to go around to the back side off an exit and pull a U-turn. This is not difficult, but I had to do this at 12:45AM and it's hard to see the turn in the dark. My only issue was at check out. I asked to check out and came downstairs. The guy at the front desk was attending to me, and when a British guy came up to check in, completely ignored me - without a word to me! This is one problem that I see with hotels in the Middle East and Asia. I look Indian, and sometimes the staff will give preference to Europeans and Americans. Luckily, another member came out to help me - but only after I stood there for 15 minutes. Overall, other than this at check out, it was a great hotel and experience. Parking is plentyful and safe if you rent a car.

The hotel was very close to the airport but a bit of a drive to old Muscat. But I will definitely return to this hotel -there service is excellent. They were able to assist with taxis, questions, and helping me with my currency exchanges!! Excellent job
