Overview

The Palms at Pelican Cove receives mixed reviews. While some praise the excellent food and service, along with the comfortable rooms and stunning ocean views, others express concerns about cleanliness, maintenance, and understaffing. The resort's location is described as convenient for exploring the island, being a 20-30 minute drive from both ends of the island and the airport. However, some reviewers highlight the limited walkability and the need for a car to get around. Several mention issues with the beachfront due to seaweed, and a lack of services such as a room phone and shuttle to rooms, which may impact the overall experience.

If I could give this “resort” zero stars, I would! The rooms are extremely dirty. You definitely need shoes on to walk in your room and in the bathroom/shower. The furniture in the room is very dated, dinged up and old. Maid service never cleaned our room. There are no phones in the room, so we had to walk from our building to the lobby every time we needed towels. The staff said they had a shuttle to take us from the lobby to the hotel room, but it was never available. There is mold everywhere through the room and the balcony is very dirty - you can’t even sit on the balcony lawn chairs. The beach access is a scam! While you can walk to the beach, you definitely can’t get in the water, unless you want to walk over all of the dead coral and seaweed. You HAVE to have a car to get around from the hotel, because it’s in such a remote area. The food and drinks at the restaurant are decent, but very overpriced. The “gift shop” is an absolute joke! The manager is rude and incompetent and talks to her staff like they are children. Just overall, this place is terrible. Stay at the King Christian instead!

Stayed at The Palms at Pelican Cove despite some negative reviews online. (Considering you can't please everyone). The overall facility was nice--staff was extremely friendly and helpful with whatever our needs. Disappointment was the seaweed on beachfront. Could not get in the ocean and nothing was mentioned of this seasonal occurrence on any travel site, etc. Would not have gone to this resort if we'd known ahead of reservation. The buildings, room and grounds need some TLC and noticeable repairs, which, since we seemed to be the only ones staying there, could of been addressed. TV was out the entire week we were there, which was another disappointment. Overall-if you want a quiet, smaller, centrally located-on the beach resort, this is an OK resort. If repairs were done-upkeep kept up and no seaweed it would be a great resort.

This resort has a lot of potential but needs work. They were severely understaffed and the buildings need to be updated. Other people I traveled with had flooding in their rooms, I had bugs, and service was slow (due to staffing). Not much to do that's walkable from hotel.

Food and service was fantastic. The room and view of the ocean was amazing from our private balcony. Centrally located on the island and I was 25-30 minute drive to either end of the island and 20 minutes to airport. I would highly recommend this place!

Not a good hotel for a business traveler. All services close at 8 or 8:30. Bar and restaurant close early. Otherwise an ok hotel.

This is the 4th time that I have stayed at the Palms at Pelican Cove on a Business trip. The front desk staff is always pleasant and helpful. I love the wait staff in the hotel restaurant and the food is very good. I had a lovely room with a perfect view of the ocean. I had a suite room this time and it was well worth it! The room was spacious with a spectacular four poster bed. I also had a nice kitchenette with a dining table and living room space. The bathroom was enormous. It is well worth the money to stay in a suite! I always choose this hotel because the rooms are the cleanest of any hotel on the island. I also appreciate the hotel security and assistance in getting all of my business luggage in and out of my room. It is always a little unusual for business travelers to stay at a beach resort but this hotel is business traveler friendly. I just wish I could come back for the fun activities!

We liked the look of other reviews so booked this resort for a one night stay in St Croix (short trip while in St Thomas) and are so glad we did. We travel a lot and this resort would be right up there with one of the best we've experienced for comfort, quality restaurant and awesome service. Really can't say enough. Wonderfully comfortable room in every way (bed was heaven). Service was fantastic from the check-in until we left. We arrived early (as we arrived on the island in the morning) but were still made very welcome. Pat on reception was fantastic as were all the other staff we interacted with. The on-site restaurant is extremely well run and the food delicious but surprisingly affordable. My husband was amazed at the size of his lobster for dinner at which the waiter said "that one is only a baby, pity you aren't here on Friday night when we have the big ones". And the surprise treat was the free hour long snorkeling trip out on the reef included in the price - I didn't even know about this when booking. Erin, the snorkeling guide/instructor, was fantastic and really discouraged any gratuity which was a very pleasant surprise (but we still gave her one anyway as we had such a great time). My only (very very very small) con would be a richer shampoo/conditioner. The one provided was "OK" but a bit drying and I did not bring mine with me as we were only in St Croix for 2 days/1 night but at least they did provide.
