Ramada by Wyndham Des Moines Airport

It was 2am when I got in, the shuttle driver was also the person who checked me in. It took a while. There was no hand soap in the room, I used shampoo…I basically only slept in the room. The bed was comfortable and clean.

Pictures appeared nicer than the hotel. Served it's purpose. The guy at the desk was very helpful and courteous. Not any sort of a luxury stay. Place to lay your head in a clean room close to DSM airport.

Needed a place to sleep after a late flight. It is close to the Des Moines airport, and check-in was easy.

It's a typical airport hotel. The staff was pleasant to work with. The property is dated, even with obvious attempts to refresh it. The room was ok but just felt sloppy. The flooring was installed incorrectly so it was pushing up in the middle. I could feel it sink back down each time I stepped on it. The paint job is sloppy with paint from the walls on the trim and ceiling. The caulking in the shower is unsightly. The bathroom was constantly warm and smelled of mildew mixed with sweaty socks. Bed was decent enough and the AC cooled the room well. Just felt grungy and needed to shower after leaving. Will not stay here again on future visits.

We did not stay there. We left as soon as we got there due to dirtiness. Old mattresses were laying in the parking lot. The fridge was broken in the room. Room was filthy. The person who was in front of us in line also left due to the dirtiness of the property. The property smelled horrible throughout.

When I arrived around 10:15pm, there was no one at the front desk. I waited for a good 20 minutes, turns out the ONLY desk staff was also shuttling people to and from the airport. Please address staffing issues. I found it kinda gross that the coffee appliances were in the bathroom. Bathroom was also not entirely clean.

Good value. Airport shuttle operates even after midnight. Essentially a high-end value motel. Perfectly fine for business travel. Rooms feel freshly remodeled with hardwood floors and brand new bathrooms. Halls still show the buildings age, but not an issue.

One person running the whole place including the shuttle. Ice machine said cleaning, which means not working. Breakfast was hockey puck biscuits and Luke warm gravy and microwave did not work. The whole building looked like it was recently involved in bankruptcy. Lobby looked bad and sparse furniture. I paid a lot of money for a dump!! Never again!!

Hotel looks is very old they tried to remodel but did it cheaply, mattresses were very old and stained, I found a dirty sock in the second bed while checking for ned bugs. Which is one positive, it was bed bug free. Thank God i only needed one bed. It was very loud most of the night. A room near me had a dog that woke me up three times barking and playing with his squeky toy through out the night. People were smoking marijuana and drinking in the parking lot. Breakfast was very mediocre at best. For $142 i would jave expected a lot more.

Here’s a list of all of the issues with this property - bedroom floor was heavy scratched up, AC unit didn’t work and it was so muggy, the toilet seat was disgusting - permanent marks all over it, oily lubricant sex handprints on bed frame, stained blanket and sheets, flickering bathroom lights undried ceiling dry wall that had to be out in right before we arrived, and very loud banging and hammering directly above our room only to be told by the front desk that they are renovating the bedrooms above us. To make matters worse, the phone in the room was disconnected with the cords literally cut so I had to walk to the front desk (a very long walk from one building to another) and all they did was send someone to clean and redo the bed. All other issues they stated they’d have to wait until the following week. No other rooms were available at all. They also do not carry playpens for children. The electricity blew out for about 30 minutes at night, the outside of my window had nearly 20 nasty, old mattresses stacked up on the ground (blocking parking spaces) as the renovators tossed them out from upstairs. There is also a huge dumpster outside making it a huge eyesore for many guests. I do not recommend this place for anyone to visit.
