Acacia Court Hotel

Limited parking and rooms very dated.

Don't think that because the Acacia Court is on the Esplanade in Cairns it will be in a relatively upmarket tourist area - wrong. It's at the far end of the Esplanade, a really dog-eared property, with unsavoury characters wandering around the car park and lobby area, even during daylight hours. You would think that as each room has a balcony that you would be able to enjoy sitting out on it - but no, they have locked every balcony door in every room (to do with the air con) so that is ruled out. On returning later in the evening after dinner with friends I was propositioned in the car park (I'm 61!!), so although I'm used to unsavoury approaches from a lifetime of travel, it's worth being vigilant if you are travelling/staying there on your own.

Very disappointing…. First night late check in no towels and very loud dripping sound …. By the second night the floor was wet… water would come up between the false floor panels … there was a clear leak behind the fridge. I addressed it at check out and was told sorry but almost in a what ever way 3hrs down the road I get a call asking where my key is? I advised “I had handed to you at front desk when I complained.” I ran through it again and was told it would go to management and they would call No call no f@*ks give Avoid this dump at all cost! It’s cheap for a reason but sunshine towers is much cheaper and a much nicer establishment with secure parking in town more and with friendly helpful staff. Complete waste of money should have taken the swag at least it doesn’t leak.

The management of this place needs to step down and go work else where! Arrived at 1am off a plane (no big deal) got to the hotel and was accidentally dropped at the wrong side. Having a 6 year old with me I tried the doors so I didn’t have to walk all the way around! The main door of the restaurant and bar was open to the public! Rang the manager to come lock up so she didn’t get robbed. What an inconvenience for her! No thanks no nothing! The next night I ordered dinner. Got back to my room and had no soy sauce (no big deal) so went back down to grab some! The man gave me a bottle of it as there were no small packets. I appreciated it. Went to go in the lift to my room only to be bailed up by the manager once again! Thinking I’m stealing her soy sauce After I explained what happen… she was still frantic on her little bottle of soy sauce. Any one would think it’s the price of gold! Next morning I booked myself out. To then jump in a taxi and the place is extremely well known for early check outs and people not happy at all about their stay!

Nice hotel, very clean and good value. Quite a way from the main strip and no cafes or restaurants within easy walking distance so a car or bicycle is needed. Airplane jet engines are loud but only during the day as there are no night flights. Staff could be more engaging, whilst friendly and supportive when engaged by customers they don't welcome or greet you as you enter and leave which incorrectly makes them appear distant. Great Accomodation for the price, I really enjoyed my stay here. I had a corner ocean view room on the 7th floor which had a balcony and great views. I'd stay here again without hesitation.

Certainly not a four star hotel! Good location. Good parking. Looks OK at the front from outside and foyer. First night late check in worked well, but the room we were allocated was disgusting and not in the location we had booked. Dirty and very run down and at rear of hotel. Moved rooms next day. Better condition but still dirty carpet, chipped bath, no power supply near bed. Restaurant is a myth. Only breakfast on the morning, closed during the day and cocktail bar at night. Many noisy people hanging about at rear entrance of hotel and sitting on the verge in the street.

Very mouldy smelling corridors, so outdated in rooms, swollen chipboard , aircon filters dusty, can’t use perfumed or sprays unless in bathroom, must keep bathrooms door shut when showering, must keep verandah doors shut. Easy $100.00 too much for the night. Smoke alarms DO work, evacuated @12.30 am not sure why. There was no explanation given, no headcount or checks. Elderly ladies on top floor still trying to get down 8 flights of stairs many minutes after the fire brigade had turned up. No assistance given to any one during evacuation.

We booked an ocean view room on the sixth floor and were not disappointed This floor has been renovated and was perfectly clean with huge views to green island and all the boats coming and going ( and yes an upclose view of the airport activity but with the door closed they weren’t so loud and they don’t go all night ) We stayed during school holidays so everywhere was busy and safe It is an easy stroll along the boardwalk to downtown Regarding some of the previous comments Cairns is a major regional service centre for 800 km and not everyone is on holidays many come for the hospital and medical appointments to attend training and courses or to buy a car so you will see people you may not normally come across and it’s good to see there are some reasonably priced hotels left If you want an fantasy holiday vacation then there are plenty at higher prices

A little bit dated, but still clean and comfortable. Staff were helpful. Good price breakfast and good choices. A little disappointed that the Chinese restaurant was too expensive, it would have cost $150 for two adults and 1 child. I would have loved to have dined there, but not knowing if the food would be good, we certainly weren’t going to pay the ridiculous prices. Good parking and great room with balcony and ocean views. Nice spot all up with the park opposite and lots of bird life.

First room No TV in Room so given another room TV in this Room Didn't work and No Remote. Front Desk didn't Care and Housekeeping was less interested. As a Senior traveling alone I don't walk streets at night so a very long evening alone in my Room.
