Had a good overnight stay.
Nice room with space and mini kitchen facilities. Good size fridge.
Food is excellent in the restaurant for both dinner and breakfast.
Staff are lovely.
The only problem was finding the way to the front entrance to unload, due to the road system in the city.
Parking ok at $15 but you need to check in first and unload before parking.
A good stay.

We have stayed here a few times this year. The hotel is in a convenient location to the Cowboys Club and Stadium and there is parking available, which is a plus.
The service was a big improvement on our last stay. We were able to pre-book parking and were also given vouchers for breakfast and vouchers for two coffees, which was a lovely surprise. We enjoyed Happy Hour drinks in the bar, which has a nice ambience.
The hotel is old, but the beds are really comfy, the rooms are extremely spacious and housekeeping does an excellent job. The public areas of the hotel are always spotless.

This was our second stay at Hotel Grand Chancellor and the service was not as good as the first time.
We stayed for three nights but had two separate bookings, with two different room types - our original booking was for two nights in a standard room, but we decided to book a third night. We couldn't book the same room type for the additional night, so had to book a one bedroom apartment. I assumed we would be upgraded to the higher room type for the entire stay, as I am a gold member and should receive an upgrade if one is available, but the hotel staff advised on check in that we had to change rooms during our stay. I then requested to stay in the same room for convenience, but we were actually downgraded to the standard room for the three nights, notwithstanding that I had already booked and paid for the one bedroom apartment for one night. This wouldn't have bothered us at all if we were perhaps offered some sort of compensation, eg, drink vouchers or a dining credit.
Upon check-out, I advised the staff that we should have a credit on our account as I am a gold member and they confirmed that we did, however I have noticed that the credit was not applied to our account, which is disappointing.
On the bright side, we were able to book parking for our three night stay which was a bonus as parking is limited at the hotel and needs to be booked in advance.
We enjoyed the happy hour at the hotel bar - reasonably priced drinks, good service and a nice atmosphere.

There is no undercover off street parking accessible from the hotel, only underground parking in walking distance to the hotel which you hsvr to pay an addition fee for ($15 per night). This car park is also very low so won’t fit any higher vehicles or ones with roof racks etc. The room we stayed in had no balcony, however the windows weren’t able to open either which made it a very stuffy and closed in experience in a tiny room. Beds and pillows were not very comfortable. Overall was an ok stay for a very brief stop over, however glad we weren’t staying any longer.

This is my 3rd time staying at Hotel Grand chancellor, evidently they’re my first choice of course. So quiet, affordable, clean, peaceful, central to everything & amazing staff. Did I a mention the best river and views as this is the tallest building. At night the view is even more spectacular from the balcony. I love the secure and affordable parking although as a suggestion, I wish there was an internal/direct access between the car park & the hotel rather than going through the back especially when it’s raining or late at night. Overall you are the best and definitely the food was so great too, especially with your 24hr room service 😍👏

No parking available
Room 603 dirty floor coverings
Dirty bathroom
Shower screen not secure and makes floor wet
Flashing green light on smoke alarm in the room like a strobe light at night
Tiny little fridge - no freezer
Front counter girls are not friendly and the woman this morning with foreign accent was almost rude when I enquired about $100 security deposit. She was obviously not impressed when I asked her to slow her speech down from a gabble so we could undertake d her
Not value for money at all

Excellent service from receptionists, we called to let them know we may be late to check in but they assisted and were well mannered on phone & in person. Thank you team for that & being welcoming at the front desk upon arrival & checkout.
Excellent service from one of the Kenyan ladies who worked graveyard shift Friday 08/03/24 11pm - Saturday 09/03/2024 7am-8am she was very kind, helpful & a hard worker even though it was very cold & windy upstairs by pool area.
When I called reception to assist with our tv asthe Netflix account was saying “unable to connect to wifi”. A staff member had this fixed for us while we went out to get some food. Thank you!
Room looks exactly as it does as per advertised, very clean, beautiful views from our balcony/room as we were located on the 11th floor. Our view was of castle hill & at night time early morning the view was breath taking.
Pool was amazing! Beautiful to swim in, view from the 20th floor (where pool is located) also stunning!
Only thing I’d say could use improvement will have to be “the hotel underground car parking”. If they can invest in a direct lift from car park to reception/ rooms, that’ll be perfect! I’d say it’ll be more safer for everyone especially those with kids/a family & a lot easier when unpacking/packing the car. Apart from that everything was great, will definitely book our next stay here whenever we’re back in Townsville & will have to try the breakfast buffet too.
Overall rating 10/10 🙌👌

The lobby and restaurant areas have clearly been updated and upgraded, however the same can’t be said for the rooms. The rooms are large and have a great view, the tv is modern, however the furnishing needs updating. The bathroom especially needs mold treatment. It was fine for an overnight stay however and staff were good. Recommend using the hotel parking for $15/night for security of your car.

A step back in time, terrible parking options followed by a $100 charge even though the stay was paid in full. Once in the room there is a control panel for an air-conditioner that you in fact cannot control. For the price there are many better and even cheaper options than this one.

I loved the view from my room, it was Tranquille. I didn't like the fact that parking is not part of the hotel service. I feel once you book a room then they don't care what you do with your vehicle. We were given the option to pay more money for parking. We had already paid enough for our room.
