Nice stay overnight to go to a concert. Hotel is perfectly situated for the station across the road and for Exeter city centre. Staff were friendly, room was clean and comfy. Only issue we had was finding the car park which has a few spaces so call the hotel when you’re close. We ended up parking at the other Mercure hotel and walking over. I think it cost us £15 for the night. Good hotel, nice stay.

Check in was easy, room was clean. Plenty of dining options and overnight parking garage nearby

Typical old city hotel badly in need of refurbishment. Central location with paid parking. Adequate for a one night stay. Average buffet breakfast. I wouldn’t stay there again.

The duty manager who checked me in was rude, inconsiderate and unhelpful. It was not possible to charge a drink at the bar to my room. The restaurant was closed throughout my stay. There was a noisy function on during my stay and yet no mention of this function was made when I booked the room two days before. I was charged for parking within the grounds of the hotel. My window did not close fully on a very cold evening. There were no biscuits or other nibbles available in my room. The duty manager was rude when I asked for directions to my room and her information did not help me to find the room easily. All in all this is one of the worst nights stay I have even experienced.

I have been visiting the Rougement for 3 years and its decline to mediocrity continues. Covid serves it badly and it seems to be returning to higher standards more slowly than other hotels. The parking is haphazard and full of non residents such as construction vans from a neighbouring site. The hotel had no fresh milk - none - to either send to my room or collect at reception to take up to my room: apparently they had run out.... Forget room service and the rooms have no aircon but fans provided to reduce the impact of sweltering conditions. The hotel is in dire need of a total overhaul and refurbishment which it should surely be able to do as the most prominent hotel in Exeter. Pretty much mediocre to poor.
