One night stay before an early flight from Newcastle. Rate included breakfast but we were up and out before it started there was coffee but nothing else on offer. I have stayed at other HI hotels where they give a grab bag to take away. The room was clean comfy and quiet. The restaurant area was like a school canteen very basic and no ambience but the service was good. Would stay again for the convenience and quiet.

We had a horrible experience at this hotel. Arrived at 00:45 following a long, delayed flight into NCL. The receptionist greeted us with "you're lucky to be able to check in, my system is closing down". He wasn't being sarcastic, he was deadly serious. He told us off for not sending him a message to let him know we would be late (how he expected me to have done that whilst sitting on a plane for 5 hours I am not sure). Nowhere on the website for this hotel does it say that check-in time is reatricted, and seeing as this hotel is fairly close to a large airport I doubt this is a rare occurrance. Having spent a long day travelling I just said 'look i just want to check in', he got shirty and wouldnt look at me again. The room was sweltering (no air con) and the double beds are very small so we got very little sleep. Breakfast is mediocre. Don't come here.

Sofa bed not comfy for kids but rest was brilliant. Nice complimentary breakfast too and free parking. Good to get into town- bus stop just outside and 5 minutes to metro centre

You would think for the price, there is something sub-standard about this hotel. Not the case at all. It offers great value for money, with friendly staff and a nice comfortable room. The included breakfast is an added bonus. My daughter was very happy with it. There is also a TGI Friday and KFC across the car park. Snacks are available to purchase in the lobby, and there is also a bar serving snacks. My daughter forgot her toothbrush, so the receptionist was able to provide one for her. Staff were very friendly and good to converse with! If you are going to the Metro centre or Beamish, even the airport this is an ideal place to stay. I will return!

A very clean and modern room with an extremely comfortable bed and friendly staff. Perfect for relaxing on business travel and I’ll definitely be using again in future.

Good links to road network. Plenty of parking on site. Several eating venues within 3 minute walk. Metro Centre 2 minute drive away. Rooms clean, functional. Ironing board, iron and hair drier present. Good break fast which was advertised as continental breakfast but actually included limitless bacon, sausages, scambled egg and beans. We didn't need a mid day meal.

Very pleasant stay. Staff lovely and early checkin was no problem. A little dated/old in the room but perfectly serviceable, clean and comfy. Tv wouldnt tune some key stations. Plenty of good parking even for a large van

I am reviewing this as a disabled person as that gave me issues that wouldn't matter had I been totally able bodied like I used to be! Good disabled parking at entrance then the room was down a long hallway from reception. Unusual for an 'accessible' room. It made walking for breakfast in dining area next to reception exhausting & painful in the mornings. The room itself was very clean though the dull carpet has seen better days. Comfortable bed but pull chord for help was at side of bed I couldn't use if needed as bed too near wall not allowing use of walking frame. Nowhere off floor to rest suitcase making it difficult for me. Room close to motorway so very noisy with window open in the warm weather. Biggest issue for me was the heavy bedroom door not being able to clip it open while I maneuvered my rollator & luggage to get in & out. Can't imagine a wheelchair user on their own finding that easy either. Bathroom was cleaned every day which was a nice touch. Can't fault the staff all very pleasant at check in & out. Breakfast good. Plenty of cold options which I like. For the few days I stayed for a local celebration it was ok
