Overview

The Bunker Hill Hotel in Charlotte Amalie offers a convenient location, within walking distance of shops, restaurants, and the ferry terminal. Guests frequently praise the friendly and helpful staff, as well as the included breakfast, described as delicious and freshly made. However, reviews also highlight some drawbacks. These include limited parking, numerous stairs (no elevator), and rooms that, while described as spacious by some, are noted by others as outdated, needing some TLC, and in some cases unclean. The hotel's pool is also mentioned as being small and not always well-maintained. Potential guests should consider these points before booking.

Upon arrival after flying in with an additional stop to the destination my best friend and I were tired. After getting settled in we had to change rooms. The first room had trash in the garbage cans and beds unmade. We waited to make the transfer to the new room after a walk to & from dinner. It was extremely hot & we had to wait over an hour for the wall unit to cool the room. The steps are rigorous & I warn you if you are not in the best shape. We had asked about the highly recommended restaurant on the property, "Sugarcane Grille" We were assured they were open until 9, so after a long day we arrived at 8:20 to be told, sorry ladies we have a party of 18 and the kitchen closes at 8:40, which left us with the sad dinner of chips. The receptionist that checked us in was very sweet and kind and there are plenty of shops and food nearby.

Staff were nice to us. The breakfast was limited but not bad. The online pictures are deceiving. Room was very outdated and dirty. Bed was like plywood and shower was pretty gross. Limited parking.

Very good location within walking distance to restaurants, stores and points of interest in historic area of Charlotte Amalie; view of Harbour from dinning and other common areas. Car parking is only 2 spots in hotel, but we found parking on street directly in front of entrance to hotel for four consecutive nights. Sugar Cane restaurant was opened some evenings, and food was good.

I checked in and then wanted to get dinner at the restaurant. I did not have a vehicle so could not move around easily and there was no warning the hotel restaurant was closed. Online said open. It was rainy and had to walk in the rain in search of food because when we called for a taxi no one was in the area. The morning for breakfast which was included they had three options: eggs, pancakes or bagel. I asked for a bagel because I didn't eat the others and they were out. Upon checkin they told me I can have 12pm checkout. At 10:38 am they called me to tell me they need the room because they have an incoming booking. Will not stay here again.

The location is downtown and close to airport which is a plus. But the property can use some updating it’s very old fashion. And not in the best condition. Also the room had a lot of mosquitos and since i was there it was 3 power outages not sure if it’s the whole island or hotel. Also please be aware of stairs they are brutal and there is no elevator. The plus is the free continental breakfast.

This is a decent hotel. BUT, beware, there are LOTS of stairs to climb, no elevator, and no staff to carry bags. We stayed on the 2nd floor, which is 3 flights of stairs, had to carry all our stuff up and down the stairs. That aside, it's a decent place, well situated to shopping and dining in the downtown area. The room are old and tired, but functional. The complimentary breakfast is simple, but nice. Given the situation with the stairs, not sure we'd go back.

Bunker Hill hotel is within really close proximity to the village, waterfront, and tons of restaurants. The staff are really helpful and friendly, and continental breakfast (pancake, eggs, bacon) is offered, which is another plus. It's not a luxury hotel, nor do I think the rooms are meant for spending much time. It may be more suitable for travelers who are simply looking for a place to sleep that is relatively affordable (compared to other accommodations in the area), and want to be within walking distance to festivities and public transportation. I don't think cleanliness is a strength, but it's family run, so staff may be limited. I hear the Safari is also really close (which is the dollar van locals and some tourist use to get around). I just want to emphasize again that the staff are really professional, helpful, and kind. For some, that outweighs the amenities offered.

Overall the property was clean and a great value. Location was convenient to the ferry terminal ...about a 10 minute walk so we didnt need to catch a cab. Staff were very friendly. It isnt the 4 seasons but like I said it is a great value and as depicted on online.
