Breakfast that used to be free, now cost $6.99 a plate (The same food that would be complimentary at other hotels). There was free food (waffles, yogurt, cereal, bread, muffins) but was not stocked. Attended at 815am and there was 1 piece of bread, 1 muffin, 1 bowl of fruit loops.
Pool is closed and locked when there are other activities in the atrium, with no mention of it at checkin.
The bar/lounge can be heard in lobby, atrium as well as the room. Friday and Saturday night there were bands that didnt start til 9pm and continued til after midnight.
The conference room had private parties all weekend making parking very challenging for hotel guests. If you left for supper and came back, you wouldnt have a parking spot.
Was told two different times that a manager would be in on sunday morning. At 845am, was told that the manager wouldnt be in til 10am. Was asked to leave a phone number and manager would call. 7pm and still didnt receive a call on either number that was left.

This hotel is for a certain kind of person and that is not me. If you're a boot scootin cowboy or wanna be, you'll enjoy it. If you're a weary traveler looking for peaceful sleep before another day on the road, this is not for you. It's a bar/club first and a hotel second. (That was news to me.) The music went til 2 am, the drunks yelling in the atrium playing golf went on last when I was able to finally fall asleep, the barefoot children running down the corridors were still out when I locked the door for bed. I'm sure all those people had a blast here but for me it was noisy, old, broken down, and smelly. There is no parking cuz the cowboys take up the spaces with their giant trucks. The room was updated but I wouldn't call it renovated. It feels like there's a good intention somewhere but it's not been executed to the best ability.

I do not recommend this hotel. While the photos show a nice, updated hotel, they are very deceiving.
Our room was small, smelled strongly of ammonia, and had only 2 full-size beds although it was advertised as queen-size. The TV only offered Roku, however it never worked and was “updating” the entire time we were there. When calling the front desk, we were promised maintenance was coming to look at it, but they never showed up. Shower head leaked, carpet was old and torn, and any “remodeling” that was done in the room was done very poorly.
The pool area is nice looking and remodeled, but the water was ice cold and we couldn’t enjoy it.
The breakfast was a joke. The only free items were advertised as bagels, waffles, cereal, etc., just as any other continental breakfast. However, they were out of bagels, milk (for cereal), and muffins at 7am on a Saturday. There were hot items (burrito, eggs, biscuits and gravy, etc.) available for purchase, but the server was rude and the food was just ok.
We were traveling with 3 small children and highly disappointed in our experience here. The front desk lady was very nice and was really the only good thing about the entire hotel.
Way too many hotels in this area to put up with such poor service and rooms from this one.

not a typical hotel — had a lot to offer of interest and a lot for the price. Interesting structure with easy parking. Room very clean and comfortable and quiet even though we were across from the pool entrance. One weak spot was breakfast—coffee and Apple juice watered down and not drinkable. Small selection, And warm breakfast was an additional cost and not open at the start of the breakfast time. Could use some trash cans outside. A great hotel if you are traveling with dogs.

This was a good choice for the price, we just needed to rest and get back on the road. I was surprised when comparing the price point but really it is just average in need of modern updates. I will say the “activity” areas look like a nice budget option for family with kids. Indoor pool was clean with nice lounge seating. There is also a nice small putting green around an indoor fountain with cute swinging chairs for lounging. Breakfast provided but cannot rate as we did not stay but looked nice. Safe free parking. Staff was kind and pleasant. Walls are thin our neighbor talking and watching tv at 3a.m. woke me up, sounded like we were in the same room. Another review mentioned an odor. I would agree. Keep in mind it is an old establishment and it has that aged smell.

New management in the last couple of years renovating a nice place, going the right direction; but might have to raise prices 'a bit' to improve (though I hate to say it).
Most things are in place: comfortable beds, linens, towels - but some little things: rough toilet paper, empty soap dispenser, inadequate internet speeds for the streaming TV, window shades needing work - prove that it's tough to offer high quality at lower prices.
Of course - If the price is as high as the established hotels, travelers will choose what they know, so it's tricky.
Cactus Cove offers Pickleball, mini golf, indoor pool, atrium, etc. - So they can attract people with things that set them apart.
Maybe the owner could invest in some billboards on the roads leading to Amarillo (I-40 & US 287) to catch travelers passing through (as many folks do).
Like others, Amarillo is never my destination but is a nice halfway point on trips to the Rocky Mountains.
This hotel was originally built to attract conventions & the like - hence, the extra amenities. Newer places have now been built for those.
In current times, perhaps they should look for travelers passing through.
I'll go there again to see how they do.

We arrived late but still had good parking. Room was clean and beds were comfortable. Ac unit was a little noisy and had to tuck the curtains at the top of the unit. Shower water was quirky, would go from from hot to warm but 3 of us were able to finish our shower with no cold water so thats good. Property has several features we didnt use as we were only there to sleep on last stop on the way home. Overall it was a geat pleace to stay for the night.

This place was an Oasis, but now they have a bar, a crowded lobby, and a very murky looking pool, not as relaxing as it used to be. Breakfast is no longer free, which was such a plus and parking is out of control. The lor is full from who knows what.

This place is different than most we've stayed. Still currently renovating some of the areas and rooms, which didnt bother us. On weekends its hard to find a parking spot due to the restaurant/ country club being open late to the public and currently only have 1 entrance (right next to the club) to enter the hotel. Employees were very nice and always offered to help us with anything. They were great! The only thing my family was unhappy with was that we couldnt go swimming at the hotels indoor pool because there was a private party booked til 3pm so they had the gates locked. My kids were very upset because they knew about there being a pool and it was one of the main reasons we chose it. We couldnt go after 3pm since we had a family wedding to attend to(reason for being in town) and were leaving the next morning. In the future, they should put a sign on the gates why the pool is closed and when its available for all hotel guest.
