This hotel is an unexpected gem in the heart of Bellingham. It’s nondescript from the outside - we would have walked right past it. It’s within walking distance to dozens of restaurants and shops, and the included parking means we never had to use our car. The hotel itself is very old with a lot of history, but has been extensively renovated and modernized. Staff are very friendly, easygoing and helpful. If you’re staying in Bellingham, this is the place to stay.

We got a suite, which was great. Very spacious. Cute main area. Parking was great. Staff very friendly. I would give it 5 stars except for 3 things. 1) The bed was a marshmallow that sank wherever you were. 2) The windows have no screens and are thin. It needs fresh air, but not bugs. With the noise, need better windows. 3) Booking did not make it clear we need walk up a flight of stairs to our room.

I've been coming up to Bellingham for tattoo appointments so need somewhere to stay that's close to the studio for just a night or two and Hotel Leo is perfect. It's very close to everything downtown (one of the only hotels that is really), there is a decent sized parking lot which makes parking a breeze, and all of the great dining options are within walking distance. The rooms themselves are HUGE, I'm pretty sure these were converted from apartments of some sort so you get a lot of space and the bathrooms are newly renovated. I've worked from the room a few times and it's prefect for that. The staff is very friendly every time we check in and out, and has accommodated a later check out for us on a couple of occasions. The hotel bar is cute, styled in the prohibition, swanky art deco style with good cocktails, wine and small plates. There are some fun common spaces in the building including a patio, a cool library room, and a 'common room' with games like shuffle board.

Liked the property: free parking , close to lots of good restaurants, right in the heart of old town. Enjoyed library and pool table on second floor. Bed was too soft and needed extra blanket as it was a bit chilly and heat pump in room did not warm it very quickly, Didn’t like homeless people wandering streets and alleys camping out in vacant lot across from hotel and making noise till late at night.Downtown area seems rundown and deserted…. But maybe it’s the time of year ( April) could be better in warm weather.

It was a great location, however the parking at this hotel is very limited. If you check in before 6 PM you may have to pay to park at an outside space. It may also be a little away from the hotel so make sure you off load bags first. Our room was near the elevator so we could hear the bell of that off an on all night along with the street noise. The hotel is very pet friendly and very accomadating of our large dog offering a pet bed and food/water bowls.

Hotel Leo had a great vibe and wonderful bar area. Our room was large and nicely appointed. The downside is the lack of hotel parking. We were told to find a meter on the street which we were lucky to find when we checked in. We were also lucky parking was free after 6pm on Saturday night. The other downside was the bar across the street which was quite loud. We did appreciate the earplugs. If we return, we'll know to park at a friends and UBER

We stayed in the new “modern” wing. It feels very sparse and stark but the suite was huge with a full kitchen and it was quiet (except for the trains running through town all night). The king size bed was very comfortable. The pull out queen was quite hard. If you are on floor 1 or 2 of the modern wing, note that the elevators don’t go to those floors…you have to take a half flight of stairs up or down. The windows open, which is nice, but there are mo screens on them.

Convenient for our small group. Would have appreciated having black tea with room amenities. Room on first floor had window onto parking lot & other street people - should have top down/bottom up blinds for a bit of privacy.
