There were sketchy people around the parking lot. Did not feel safe leaving my car out there. Someone sneaked up to my passenger door and they were not going/coming from the car next to me. I ended up driving around and then coming back to park. I seriously considered finding a new hotel at night. I slept with all the locks on and chairs up against the door.
Granted, I watch a lot of true crime and I was traveling solo so my defenses were on high alert so take my review with a grain of salt.
The property itself was old and not in its best shape. But the bed did turn out to be comfy. The next morning there was a lot of talking in the hallway and that’s when I realized the window was open. I slept with it open unknowingly! I didn’t realize it was open because the ac was on.
Anyway, tbh for the money I’d book somewhere else next time. But I’d avoid this whole area.

Being an older hotel, the rooms are large. I appreciated having a fridge and microwave as I don't want to always go to a restaurant 3x a day. The bed was comfortable. Lots of free parking is nice too

Adequate for the price. I stayed two nights, visiting Bellingham for two oval theater performances.
The room was reasonably comfortable and quiet, but the overall property was just average. It’s a large building and needs more regular upkeep than it gets. To illustrate, while my room was reasonably clean, there were some visible smears on the door and the HVAC unit’s outside cover was somewhat ajar.
With a maze of outside walkways, the architecture reminded me a little bit of a prison. The reception and breakfast area is fine, but ordinary. The grounds are mainly parking area and stairwells, with very little by way of plantings. I selected it partly because it accepts dogs (for an additional $25/night), but there’s no grassy spot to walk them. You need to walk a block to find even a planting strip. The sense of being surrounded by parking area is increased by there being an adjacent (less attractive) hotel so you go from parking lot to parking lot.
Front desk staff was efficient at check-in. Polite but not exactly friendly in general.
Recommendation to hotel management: install some directional signage indicating the room numbers on each corridor. It took some hunting to figure out where my room was when I got off the elevator. The room numbering doesn’t go consecutively due to the multiple corridors. It’s somewhat confusing.

Unfortunately my flight was canceled and i booked room but never was able to check in due to issues at airport. Had to pay whole charge but never stepped foot in the hotel.

I stayed in a room that had a strong odor of stale cigarette smoke and urine, which seemed to be a combination of human and pet urine. There were only two pillows on the queen-sized bed, which was insufficient. The towels had a strong smell of cooking oil. Overall, the room I stayed in looked nothing like the pictures on Expedia. The noise from the freeway was so loud that sleeping was very difficult, even with earplugs. The parking area next to the freeway looked and felt sketchy. There were several grocery store shopping carts in the parking lot.

Homeless person stealing food from breakfast bar. Police called. Also, I was asked for money in parking lot as soon as I arrived and exited the car. Front desk staff though were amazing in dealing with these issues. Would not have been an enjoyable place for a family. But served the function of a place to simply sleep for 8 hours, then leave.

I booked this stay because the hotel is marked as pet friendly. But your site didn't mention a $25 additional cleaning fee, paid up front. That wouldn't have been a deal-killer for me but popped on me out of the blue was ... unwelcome. Made me feel used. As it happens, my lab is well- behaved, is not allowed on furniture or the bed, and travels with a nice blanket for her to make her bed. Again, I don't object to the fee. Some pets can be horrific. But tell your customers about additional fees up front.

Property charged my card before I even checked in which was different but ultimately turned out to make check in hassle free and quick. Staff was quick to respond with any call. Door had no peep hole however and as women travelling alone this made us uneasy. Property quality (up keep, bed /pillow) comfort was a bit low for the the price

Seeing as though this motel had decent ratings my wife and I figured it would be fine for one night as we travelled through the Bellingham area. The pictures looked clean and we figured it would not be unlike many of the older family run motels we’ve stayed at in the past. The staff was friendly and we have no complaints with the check in process. Unfortunately on our way to the room there was vomit leading up the exterior steps, something we would have been fine overlooking had it not been for the painfully musty smell once we got inside. The room wreaked of cigarettes, the chair had cigarette burns in it, the duvet and towels were stained and frankly it just wasn’t a space we wanted to spend any amount of time in. Had it not been for that the sheer noise coming from the highway right outside the window was terrible. I hate writing a negative review of what I assume is a mom and pop run organization, but this is why people choose to stay at more reputable chain establishments. Lesson learned.
