Westmark Fairbanks Hotel & Conference Center

When we travel from east coast we were skeptical about the amenities and cleanliness, but the property was clean, staff were very informative and patient with my tons of questions! Only minus i would say is the rooms dont have a microwave as we do have here in other hotels.

Not much parking space for parking a car and some people don't know how to park at all

A mix of business and pleasure. The hotel was pretty good but not exceptional. Good for business travel, not so good for a special weekend away. Food was OK but not exceptional and service was mixed, sometimes we were ignored and other times made to feel very welcome from different staff. Breakfast was not great.

Card readers were faulty - After parking near my building, I was unable to use the card reader to get into the building. Had to drive back around to the main entrance and walk to my portion of the hotel - card reader on my door ALSO wouldn't read the key. They are "finicky". Otherwise, I like staying here and keep coming back.

Location is convenient to downtown and the airport. Breakfast included. Decent price for a decent stay!

Both of our evenings the TV was cutting out and pixelating. Apparently this was blamed on the cable company. With the thermostat at it's coolest setting, it was still too warm in the room. The carpet had a stain right in the center of the room. Personnel were pleasant and the breakfast was nicely done. Apparently the hotel is owned by the tour companies who may be putting profits above customer satisfaction, a short sighted approach. When we checked out I listed the deficiencies noted during our stay and the agent wrote them down but said any discount or compensation would have to come through Expedia. I purchased travel insurance when I made my reservations. I am not sure if that is any help or not. Considering that we paid about $300.00 for off season rooms I expected better. So here I am communicating with Expedia. Is there anything that can be done for us? Tom

It was easy to find had decent parking really friendly staff

Confusion on no shuttle. The hotel called a taxi, but when he showed up he was rude and said I’d have to call him. Tried to ask a question but he just rolled up window and drove off. He WAS supposed to pick us up. Called the hotel and they got another. Very hellpful staff. One last thing is there was a false fire alarm at 8 am. Learned something never take a room above 2 stories. 8 floors is along ways to walk down the stairs in the emergency with wet hair. In shower. They handled it well and when we asked for an hr late check out it was honored.

The night staff members Antoine and Daniel went above and beyond to make me feel welcome! I was coming in from a late flight and did not arrive till 3 am. They made sure we had everything we need to make our check in a smooth process and continued to check in on my family the remainder of our stay. They made great suggestions for activities for the kids and gave insightful advice on how to plan our time there. It was such a relief to have been greeted by their smiles after a hectic day at multiple airports.
