Overview

The Atrium Hotel at Orange County Airport is conveniently located directly across the street from John Wayne Airport, making it very easy to access for travelers. Guests appreciate the hotel's proximity to both the airport and Newport Beach. The hotel boasts a relaxing pool area and comfortable rooms, with some mentioning updated decor and comfortable beds. However, reviews also highlight some negative aspects. Parking is a significant cost at $24 per night and this is not always clear at the time of booking. Many guests cite maintenance issues, including unclean rooms, poor bathroom conditions, and insufficient amenities. The hotel's interior is described as dated by some, and noise issues from other guests or the street are also raised.

The front desk lady was very helpful during check-in. It was late at night because my flight was canceled. I wanted to make a coffee 5:30 in the morning, but the disposable cups were missing. Only the lids were there. It was too early to call anybody, and I was late for the airport, so I gave up on the coffee. It might be a small housekeeping error, but it was a big disappointment for me.

Room next to us had a huge party and a loudspeaker blasting and screaming we could not sleep. I Had to call management twice and then we were transferred to another room because the neighbors would not turn off music.

Parking situation was irritating. First thing we noticed was the entrance was crowded, both outside and inside. once we walked in, we saw a banner for a concert event that was taking place at the hotel. Was given instructions on where to park by the employee that checked us in. We followed her instructions and the print out map of the property only to find zero parking spaces available. The concert event attendees had been told to park in the same lot, which as a result left not one parking space available for hotel guests. We went back to notify the front desk, employee was aware of the situation as another guest had the same problem. Employee said they just sent out a lot employee, wearing a grey shirt that would assist and tell us where to park. We drive back into the lot, went all the way around a few times, not one employee to be seen. My S.O. got frustrated and parked by a yellow painted curb that was on the total opposite side of where our room was. We kept looking out the balcony waiting for a parking space to become available to then be able to pull the car around closer and park somewhere we wouldn’t get towed.(still had to pay $24 overnight Parking fee) The rooms have awfully thin walls, you can hear neighboring rooms as clearly as if they too were in the room with us. Balcony glass door has two separate curtains, thick black out curtains, then sheer ones that are horribly torn up. Cleaning standards of the rooms need to be greatly improved.

The hotel's location is great, especially if you're traveling through John Wayne Airport, as it is directly across the street. It is also just minutes from Newport Beach and UC Irvine. The staff is friendly. The pool has a fun layout with cabanas and a bar. A lot of the rooms have patios overlooking the pool. However, the housekeeping is haphazard. There were crumbs on the chair, dust hanging from the lampshade, and the toilet was not completely clean. There was also a 2' x 2' patch of really wet carpet in the middle of our room. The entire hotel interior has a slight musty smell. In the final analysis, the hotel costs slightly less than its two next door neighbors, the Hampton Inn and the Hilton. But the neighbors are a bit cleaner.

We stayed one night because it was close to the airport. The room was clean. It’s a little outdated but cool if you want a retro look. For me it had a little musty smell and the shower could have been better. We did not have the breakfast there and parking was convenient.

I checked into the room. It was pretty crowded due to an event. The bathroom in my room was making noises so they changed my room and gave me a nice upgrade. They also waived my 2 night parking fee for the inconvenience. This is the time of year that Irvine gets hot and humid. So yes walking through the hotel that’s mainly outdoors will be hot. It’s simply expected during the summer months. The pool area is nice and relaxing, but I didn’t get in the actual pool. The water didn’t look too clean. The beach is very close by so we opted for that instead.

One of the worst hotels I have been at I have stayed at motel 6 and it was cleaner then this hotel our room smelled so bad the pricing of the stay did not match the service nor room and then you had to pay an extra 24 bucks to park . I never even at motels had to pay for parking . We called reception about how unhappy we were and she did nothing .

Nestled across the street from the Duke’s airport, the area offers many amenities and a 10-15 min drive to great beaches. The hotel on the other hand needs much improvement. The furniture and decor of the rooms are outdated. The carpet could use an overhaul. The hallways are stuck in the 90’s. The room could earn the use of a mini-fridge and a microwave. The desk was well used and the office chair and bench have seen better days. I just did not feel comfortable in this room for the daily rate. The bathroom soaps were small and not enough for a family of four. The room should be stocked accordingly to the number of people on the reservation. I also found it weird that I had to call each day to get the room serviced with fresh linens and towels. The laundry room only had 1 of 2 working washers and 2 dryers. It was disproportional to the number of units. The hotel served its purpose but could do a lot better overall. No where on Hotels.com or their own website did it say we had to pay $24/day for parking. They ended up giving me a discounted $18/day rate at the mention of this information. The staff were fine. They were always responsive and timely. Some elbow grease, TLC and a renovation could make this place worthwhile. Lastly, I would like to go on vacation and sit on my balcony and not have to cone back inside due to someone partaking in a federal schedule 1 narcotic with fumes making their way into my room.

Location was perfect. The onsite car rental was very convenient, as well as the free parking was a plus. The lobby is nice. The hallways and the room itself felt a little older including the bathroom.
