Sonesta Irvine

My husband and I had a short 5-day getaway trip for relaxation & visit with my husband’s family. We arrived early, Daniel let us check in early (due to my excruciating headache from an extremely cold flight). The hotel has a very pleasant smell upon entry & very nice music at the entrance. The staff is courteous. During our stay, we were out all day & did not come back to the hotel until midnight almost every night, so we didn’t really get to use any of the hotel facilities. Overall, it’s a very clean, quiet, hotel surrounded by office buildings. Great location with a 7-minute drive to SNA John Wayne airport, 18-minute drive to Newport Beach - Corona Del Mar & Balboa Island, 15-min drive to Fashions Mall & South Coast Mall, and it’s very close to UCI. We will stay at Sonesta again the next time we are in Irvine. Please be advised there’s a $39/day parking fee & $20/day facilities fee (which we were told includes a $10 daily voucher for bkfst/drinks), but, we didn’t use it — unknowingly.

The property is fine and clean but not immaculate. We will stay somewhere else next time due to the high cost of parking and tenant fees. We’ve never been charged for either and the difference eliminates any savings from nicer hotels.

The location is a bit confusing. GPS made us turn to the parking structure on Mercantile when you should turn on Gillette Road. The hotel is nice, staff very pleasant and helpful. The room is clean except that there is an area on the wall that I think they are planning to cover it but it wasn't fully covered/glued properly. Wi-fi connection is poor. The door doesn't automatically close so you really have to double check & make sure door is closed when you leave or come in. We were talking for a couple of hours inside the room and wondered why conversations on the hallway was too loud to hear, only to find outit's because our door was halfway open. The rest of our stay was nice, comfortable, and convenient.

The property is clean and comfortable The parking is $39 per night, but is way to expensive. If you walk down to Gillette you can park for free.

Had a good time. The property is nicely done. The amenities were there and it’s in the perfect area, especially for business travelers. Only suggestion I have is a little more friendliness from the night auditor, checked in relatively late and she did her job and was explanatory but was a little curt.

I really liked how quiet it was and how close we were to the airport. Our room was very clean, shower had hot water, and the bed was very comfortable. The staff was nice and professional. We will definitely stay here again.

They charge $39/day for parking - ridiculous...

The property is newly renovated and close to the airport. The room was clean and comfortable for my stay. The staff was very professional I definitely recommend. Great dining options onsite as well. Five stars!

Really like this place. Updates are great. Lobby is nice and check in was smooth. Don’t love paying 39 bucks to park the car when the hotel was 144. Seems cheesy to stab you for parking like that. But all in all this is a great place to stay

When I got to the property, I was given a room with handicapped access although I did not need it and the bed was low on the floor so I had to ask for a different room. The person at the front never informed me that the room was handicapped, and it was a bit inconvenient to have to move my room. Also, I booked this hotel because it said they had a shuttle to the airport but I didn’t know the shuttle wasn’t available until 6 AM and my flight was leaving early so it didn’t help and I asked for the manager to call me to discuss this, and they promised me they would follow up and nobody ever called me.
