Sandyport resort is a hidden gem! The resort is only ten minutes away from the airport, nestled in the private beach area . If you are looking for relaxing island vibes, this resort is for you. The staff is simply fantastic, everyone we spoke to was friendly and helpful. I felt that every person went above and beyond to ensure we had a comfortable stay!
The resort itself has everything that we needed - a semi private beach was a two minute walk from our room and the beach bar and restaraunt were located right next to the beach. The property has a decent sized pool, with a pool bar and little areas for recreational games.
We truly didn’t want to leave!
Now for those who are looking for chic luxurious accommodations this resort might not work, it is truly a beach hotel. Our room had a kitchen and a nice view but def needed some updates. Otherwise the space was clean and sufficient. This resort is nothing like mega resorts closer to the downtown area but for folks who appreciate relaxation and being away from partying crowds this is the ideal place. We were 15-25 min away from major destinations such as a ferry dock (most water excursions depart from there), Atlantis and Baha mar for those who is interested in taking a peak, and bars and restaurants. Cabs fees around $25-$45 per ride!
This being said there are a few bars and restaurants close to the resort such as a craft cocktail bar, an Italian inspired dinner spot, etc.
We can’t wait to come back again!

I arrived to the hotel around 8pm. There were several families waiting to check into their rooms. The hotel only had one staff member working at the time so the wait was very long. I had to travel a distance to get to the room and there was no staff to help with baggage. There were no outdoor lights so I walked in the dark while it rained heavily. I ended up walking through several deep puddles of water because I could not see anything. I barely slept because the guest next to me played music you could hear across the property until midnight and then started again at 6am. The property had a mosquito problem and I was eaten alive in the lobby and in my room. I would suggest paying more money and just saying at the Atlantis or Baha Mar.

If you are looking for a quiet place then this is the place for you. The bed was very comfortable and the beach was nice. It can get a little boring and too quiet. The taxi rides were a lot of money and varied a lot. The guys who work at the bar on site are very nice, the cook I forgot his name and bass makes great drinks so that is a must! You have to be ready to walk, we had to walk out luggage quite away in the heat to check into our room. Overall I would recommend to stay here

This place had a standard of a 2.5-3 stars hotel or a motel, calling it a resort is very misleading and wrong. The main entrance is not marked at all, and the first thing we hear after a 6 hour flight that we can buy there bottles of drinkable water $2.25/ gallon. The place is outdated, the hotel beach not very attractive, bedding sheets and mattress of a very low quality. Save yourself the headache and disappointment and pay a little more for a REAL resort hotel.

We stayed in the house boats, which I recommend doing. However, the houseboats face the water and the windows are completely see-through. We had no privacy with sailors and people constantly passing by. A little awkward to have to hide in your own "hotel room" to get dressed.
Aside from lack of privacy, the resort is beautiful. The staff are wonderful and very accommodating, with the exception of the water taxi driver. He ["Chacho"] comes and goes on his own schedule and unless you tell him you need to be somewhere at a certain time and get verbal confirmation, I wouldn't rely on the water taxi schedule provided by the resort. Unfortunately, his taxi is one of the few ways to get off the island, so bear that in mind. We noticed that communicating with the staff made our stay very easy, they were very accommodating when they knew our itinerary.
Beautiful resort and a beautiful island we will definitely return to. Our vacation approach will be different when we return now that we know to give ourselves ample time for transportation.

The experience was horrendous. I got a package deal from Expedia--flight and hotel. The hotel was Sandyport Resort. Before the trip, I called the Sandyport Resort office to check on a shuttle from the airport and was told that since I booked a deal through Expedia, I was not entitled to a shuttle and that I would need to book a taxi from the airport. At that point, I realized that we were second-class guests. When we got to the resort,
we were shown to a room that looked like it need a lot of refurbishments. It had a kitchenette, but we soon found out that the coffeepot was broken and that the gas stove burners would not light. They replaced the coffeepot with another worn-out looking pot, but at least it worked. The gas was flowing but the burners would not light. Maintenance came with matches, so we could light the burners. The grout around the toilet was half gone and the toilet wiggled when you sat down and when you got up. Toilet holder had nothing to hold the toilet paper with, so the paper sat on the toilet lid. The worst thing about the room is that it had no soundproofing between our room and the connecting room next door. The couple had a 5-month-old baby and a 3-year-old child in addition to two grandparents. The first night the baby and 3-year-old cried most of the night. Even ear plugs didn't help. The remainder of the nights weren't much better. My advice would be to never get a package deal through Expedia and to never go to Sandyport on a deal.

Quiet, private beach, short walk to good restaurants. Helpful, friendly staff. 15 minutes from airport but not in the flight path.

Sandyport is a lovely, quiet resort with a very nice and helpful staff. The property is very pretty. The pool area has a small bar, lots of chaise lounges and hammocks. It opens up to a beach on the lagoon where the water is calm. The Blue Sail restaurant overlooking the ocean is very nice and the Starfish restaurant is great for breakfast. The beach itself is small and and on an incline. Can't really swim because there's coral very close to the shore. The view is beautiful, though. It was very windy on the ocean side while we were there so we spent our time on the beach near the pool. Our room was nicely decorated and clean. The bathroom was a little small. We were centrally located to everything. The town/marina just outside the resort is great. We had some great meals at the Spritz and Twisted Lime restaurants. We had breakfast at the News Cafe. We would definitely recommend staying at the Sandyport. It was 10 minutes from the airport and it's a great alternative to the massive resorts like Atlantis and Baha Mar. You get a real feel for the Bahamas and the pace is very laid back. We'll be back the next time we go to the Bahamas!

A great destination for a family vacation! The room was a bit dated but the grounds, amenities, pool, and beach access were fantastic. Friendly and helpful staff, and bonuses like a shuttle to the grocery store were a big help. Would definitely return.
