Overview

Hotel Vera is a centrally located hotel in Reykjavik, within walking distance of many tourist spots. Guests appreciate the clean and comfortable rooms, many of which feature a small kitchen. The self check-in process using email codes is efficient, although the unusual entry through a restaurant and lack of luggage storage before or after check-in may not suit every traveler.

We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Vera! The location was excellent & parking was easy to find for our rental car. It is close to shopping & many good restaurants.

The hotel and location is perfect for exploring the city! Just keep in mind the paid parking by the city. Its free to park at the famous church and walk the 3blocks down

Maybe Hotel Vera should display more prominently that: 1. They don't have a reception desk 2. Therefore one cannot leave luggage there when one arrives early in the morning. I pity those unlucky travelers who did not rent a car and must schlep around Reykjavik until check-in time. 3. Also, the poor lady who owns the restaurant must be tired of all the people constantly knocking on her door when they, like me, arrive early and think that she is the receptionist... 4. Also: no parking.

Great location, right on the main street of Reykjavík. You can walk to all the main tourist spots. Lots of restaurant options and bars near by. Pay parking lot just a block from the hotel. The entrance through the restaurant it's a bit unusual, but the staff was super friendly.

I thought the check-in process was odd. We received an e-mail the day before with room number and codes. However, our traveling companions did not. In order to gain entrance to our rooms, we had to go through a restaurant. The woman at the restaurant was irritated show had to explain how to reach someone to get information for our traveling companions to enter their room. The whole situation left us with a feeling of "not being taken care of." I would not recommend Hotel Vera to anyone,

Great location at one end of downtown. Room 102 was clean and had a mini kitchen. The only window was a huge skylight and getting the blind closed with the provided long stick was tricky and took some effort, but by standing on a chair it worked. Kind of crucial when sunset is 1130 pm and sunrise 330 am and you need to sleep during a layover. There is no staff on site and we never saw anyone--we were given a code to open the door to a closed restaurant, walked through to the back, and used the code to enter the room. The process worked, but don't expect a "hotel" experience. Overall we liked it, and the room was cheaper than others available at the time (neaely everything in Iceland will cost more than you expect).

Please note this hotel does not let you leave your luggage either before check in or after you check out. They will direct u to bag storage facility which is not exactly near (bus terminal etc)

Nice studio appartment with small kitchen and small dining table with two nice chairs. Clean and nice room with comfy beds and city view (from 5th floor). Ok bathroom, not newly renovated, but clean. Opportunity to cook, but I did not use it. No manual reception desk. I received a code for the main entrence, room number and a code for the room to my e-mail when the check in started (3.00 pm). It worked very well! However, it was impossible to store luggage before check-in started as you cannot enter the hotel before check-in started and no one answered the service number at 9.15 am arrival day. Nicely located and quite (5th floor) in Reykjavik city center. 5 min walking to Hallgrim church and 20 min to BSI bus terminal (airport and tourist tour busses).
