LOVED our stay here... the only thing we didn't like was the difficulty in finding a parking spot that wasn't too far away for toting our luggage. As it was, the closest we could get was a good 5-6 minutes walk dragging luggage behind us. Otherwise, it was a GREAT choice! Loved SUMAC - the attached restaurant. It was also wonderful being a couple does down from the SANDHOLT bakery.

Wonderful staff, clean and modern hotel, great location, lovely room, and they have luggage storage late checkout!
The only oddity here is that parking is a bit scarce around the hotel. You'll have to park in a zone a few blocks away and haul your luggage to the hotel as there are no cars allowed on the road with the hotel.

This is my second time staying at this hotel. In 2021, I stayed her and I booked the Junior Suite, balcony and sauna outside. It was THE BEST experience ever. So when we were traveling again, I booked the same suite. The bed is one of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept on. The bathroom is amazing, and there is SO much storage space to store your clothes and luggage. The view from the balcony is unbelievable and the sauna is just what you need after a long day of exploring the city.

I stayed at ION City for 3 days last weekend and I loved everything about the room. The view was subtle but gorgeous, just like much of the architectural scene is in Iceland. The Hallgrímskirkja all lit up outside my window wasn’t too shabby. The room was so well maintained and felt super cozy. I’m someone who enjoys travel but sleeping away from my home comforts is a challenge so choosing a hotel is top priority, and I made the right choice with ION City. The only thing that I would change was the rain shower head. In theory rain shower heads are luxurious but impossible to avoid getting my hair wet on days when I didn’t plan on washing it. The spectacular soaking tub more than made up for that though. And the mattress! I felt like I was sleeping on a cloud. Last but not least the service was impeccable. I’m quite shy and reserved and I don’t need to be overly fussed over and I got just the right amount of attention to feel like a valued customer without being overwhelmed. I figured out quickly that this is the Icelandic way. The people are kind and welcoming but not too in your face. Works for me. Also the location was perfect. I was never more than a 10 minute walk from everything. I would stay at ION city again in a heart beat. My only regret is not having enough cash on hand to leave a more generous tip for the kind person who took care of the space during my stay. 10/10 experience!

A quiet location in a downtown walkable area can be a difficult combo and this hotel checked almost all the boxes! After a long overnight flight, lost luggage and a long rental car process we stopped by the hotel to see if an early church in was possible. The person managing the front desk was delightful and found a room available and even offered complimentary champagne to toast our arrival. Since our luggage was delayed and street parking is free on Sundays, the lack of parking or valet service was not an issue. It was a great choice for our first night in Iceland.

Aside from having amazing staff, they had the best shower we have had in a hotel bar none! We travel often and it is so important to wake up and start the day off right, which you can do at ION city. Have an awesome shower then head across the street for a cappuccino and danish before heading out on your adventure.

First, you can't drive to the hotel! Street in front is closed to vehicles so you have to fight for a parking spot away from the hotel and carry your luggage for blocks. The street in front is now a very active location for locals and tourists so it is very loud and loud late into the night. Room was hot and very small window to let in a bit of air. Leaving the window open meant a very loud night. Band a few doors down played late into the night.

I loved the location. It could not get better. Luciana, checked me in but my room was not ready. That was ok as I just had gotten off a cruise and I was there very early. She told me I would get one as soon as one became available and she would call me. When it was ready and I came back to the hotel and she had already put my three pieces of luggage in my room. I have never had that done before in my decades of travel. What a fabulous added touch. The hotel could use better signage as even my taxi driver had an issue. I would definitely stay there again.

A tasty welcome drink and great customer service. Called us a taxi on request, held our luggage for many hours after checkout, and provided helpful info about the surrounding area. Would stay again if I return to Reykjavík.

Great, little hotel in the heart of downtown Reykjavik! Very friendly staff that greeted us upon arrival with glasses of sparkling champagne! The room was very clean and comfortable with an amazing view of the Hallgrímskirkja church steeple. While parking was difficult to find (street parking only), there were many places to walk to eat and shop and explore the city.
