Wingate by Wyndham Dayton North

Driving up on the location made me instantly regret making a reservation. There are apparently two hotels in the same Building, the Wingate and the Baymont. There was no signage on the building and I would have thought it was close if it had not been for people walking in and out of the rooms. My room ended up on the third floor, on to find out they they do not have an elevator to the third floor (Well they do but it was out of order.) The room's curtains did not cover the window, and there was a bright parking lot right outside the window. I was able to maneuver the curtains so they blocked most (like 80%) of the light. In the morning, there no sugar free options for the free breakfast. Just pancakes, muffins, and sugary cereals. Asked if there was any plain oatmeal meal but the answer was no. Ended up going to a Starbucks. I would not suggest this place.

The property was extremely dirty. People were smoking in their rooms and the smell travelled into our room all night. Floors in the hallway looked like they haven’t been vacuumed in a long time. As someone who suffers from asthma the smoke smell was very difficult to breath.

The hotel is located in a motel looking property. You are directed to the actual hotel my the staff but at first glance it seems like you’ll be staying in a motel which is pretty scary. I was given a smoking room initially even though I had bought a non smoking room. The smoking room was gross and grungy with water damage on the wall. I asked staff to change my room and they were very nice about changing my room which I appreciate but after traveling all day having to ask for a room I had already bought was the last thing I wanted to do. The non smoking room was ALOT better than the smoking room but it still felt like cleanliness was not much of a priority here. The bathtub was clogged so water would not drain. I found a hair on the bed and the microwave and fridge were not very clean. All in all I wouldn’t stay here again. Not sure about the surrounding hotels as I have never stayed here before but I would definitely not rate this above a 2 star. Its ratings received me.

As soon as we entered the room there was a foul odor almost like someone was cooking meth and then took a big dump in the toilet just before we got there. The hand towel had makeup on it and smelled like perfume, the floor wasnt vacummed and the sink and tub had hair in it. Then the noises from other guests and the very loud ac unit. We slept with our clothes on out of fear the rest of the linenes werent clean. We only stayed because we had just traveled 800 miles and were to tired to go any further.

The web site said this hotel had a shuttle to the airport. That was the specific reason I booked this hotel. When I got there they did not have a shuttle. There were several hotels near by with comparable rates that did have a shuttle. I did not have a car and had to get an Uber to the airport.

I would not recommend this property. We selected as the overall reviews were 7 out of 10 but this was definitely not the case. Although the room had upgraded linens and furniture, the overall cleanliness was very dirty. There was hair, dirt and a hairpin on the carpet. The lobby and elevator floor were very dirty. The hallway smelled like something died there. The bed sheet didn’t stay in place and lifted to relieve a very stained mattress. There were also some very unsavory characters hanging out in the back parking lot. We felt unsafe here. When we were leaving there was a customer complaining that things were taken from her room when she was out. Luckily we didn’t leave the room that evening.

Bed comfortable. Plenty of parking. Safe and quiet area. Convenient to the freeway. TV worked intermittently. Surface cleaning was good, but deep cleaning like in corners was very bad. Quite run down. Toilet sat on quite an angle from the wall. There was stacks of extra bedding left on the shelf and luggage holder in the closet area. The bed was clean, but the bedding was somewhat rumpled, not smoothed, looked 3/4 made. Elevator looked very old and marred up. No pictures on the walls in the room. One of the panels on the window to the outside was clouded over in patches. Heater/air did not work from the wall thermostat as requested by sign in the room, but did work using the controls on the unit.

This hotel was probably updated with new finishes in recent years, but it was a bit dated overall and wasn't the greatest place I've ever stayed. It was just ok. For the price I had higher hopes I guess. A little disappointing, but I will say it was clean and the staff was friendly, the breakfast was ok, and the location was excellent with plenty of restaurants and stores within walking distance. I don't want to give a bad review - it wasn't a bad place by any means. I am just more accustomed to a Hyatt or a Hilton I guess. My fault for not paying attention to the fact that there are no interior corridors...the rooms open to the parking lot. It was noisy with people in the parking lot coming and going at all hours outside of my door. Not that unusual for a hotel, but it seemed like I heard every word and every footstep. On a positive note, the room was well maintained, clean, and the hotel is in a safe area. It served its purposed for my 2 night business trip.

The carpet was covered in plastic as if they were afraid to get the carpet dirty. We checked in and after unloading our car with several bags went to our assigned room that had not been cleaned. This was at 11:00 at night after a full day of travelling. I went back to the front desk and they gave me another room, we went to that room and it had not been cleaned either and when I say not been cleaned I mean very dirty. So we did not wish to risk a third try and did not stay and was left to find another hotel at close to midnight.

Alycia and Lisa went above and beyond to make my stay that much better. It was a extremely long day of traveling with many delays and 10hours of traveling.but when I arrive at your hotel they made my nite so much better. What a pleasure they both were i have to return for work & I will be back, because of them. Thank you for having such a lovely staff!
