Hampton Inn Monterey

The Hampton Inn Monterey is basically a clean motor lodge. It is near Monterey tourist attractions which could make it a good hotel for someone wanting to be centrally located without being in the heart of a tourist district. When we arrived there were some homeless people across the street, and since the parking is open and not monitored I did question how safe the parking area is. The person who checked us in was unfriendly. When I made some basic inquiries, he snapped at me. The other desk clerks were neither friendly or unfriendly. I would say overall this was one of the least friendly/helpful staff I've encountered in the last few years. While the room was a comfortable size, and clean, the walls are paper thin--we could hear our neighbor's conversations, toilet flush etc. And the road noise makes it hard to sleep at night. The breakfast and in room coffee are basic. There was no tea in the room, but it was available in the breakfast area. Our fridge did not work, so the milk/cream we bought went bad. I brought a large group to this hotel (more than 20 people) and since I am in charge of travel for our organization, I will not be bringing our group back. I heard from several families that the noise level made it difficult to sleep and that the rooms were musty. In addition, the cost of the hotel/motel is high for what you get. It was actually more expensive than some of the nicer area hotels for the weekend we stayed (almost $700 for two nights).

Good size rooms, convenient parking. One elevator, outdated rooms, poor breakfast options, tiny fitness center. The relation between price and quality is not the best.

Other than limited parking it was great. Quiet, great location, helpful staff.

The room smelled like cigarette smoke and there was bird poop all over the floor around the property. When we arrived the man in the front didn't give me proper instructions for parking and our room. He was too fast and it seemed like it was an inconvenience for him to help me.

The property was clean and the outside had nice landscaping. You can walk to the beach (15 minutess). It was close to everything in Monterey but i believe less of a hassel with parking.

This was a quiet, well maintained property. The breakfast was a plus for my husband. Hot, fresh everyday. . Lots of parking. A total repeat.

Easy check in, easy check out. Good front desk's customer service. Free parking spaces are spacious enough for most of the standard size car. Our room was clean, looks recently renovated/new to me. Although our room is facing the Del Monte Ave, noises from the traffics were not a problem. We enjoyed our free breakfast too, breakfast area has a reasonable space and tables for the size of the hotel. The hotel is situated near or a few driving miles away to most tourist attractions in Monterey. Overall we enjoyed our stay during our short spring break vacation in Monterey. Definitely recommend this hotel for a cheaper price with free parking, free breakfast, a clean decent room; and near enough to tourists attractions like Cannery Row area, etc.
