Best Western Plus Richmond Airport Hotel

Our stay at the hotel was very nice except one very important thing. The alarm clock in our room did not allow us or the gentleman in charge to set an alarm. We requested a call at 3:30 am since we were due to be at the airport at 4:30 a.m. They promised the call which we mentioned several times. It was never made! Fortunately, my cell phone did awake us as planned. If someone had not mentioned the cell phone, we could have missed our flight - depending on rhe call!

I was dissatisfied with this hotel. I assumed getting a 3 star hotel wouldn’t be ‘that’ bad. Unfortunately, I was wrong. It was hard to get in the room. My room key lit up as green but you had to use force to enter. At first I was nervous I was at the wrong door. The bed sheets had stains. One elevator was broken, thankfully they had two. Our room smelled horrible. Smelled like the bathroom. I’m not sure if it was mildew or lack of cleaning or all of the smells together. I sprayed so much Lysol and perfume around in that room but it didn’t help. The full size bed was uncomfortable. I refused to walk around the room barefoot. The a/c was loud. Walls thin. This was my first hotel stay where I wished I was home in my bed. Thinking about the smell is making my lip curl up. Just NO. But if you’re looking for a convenient hotel close to the airport and just need a place to lay your head this is perfect.

The staff who drive us to the airport was very helpful, even early in the morning.

The shuttle was not available when I arrived- no one at desk I presume because no one answered phone - after 3 attempts- I did put do not disturb first day- second day it was off- though no service was provided- could have used another face cloth or two- food was very …. I didn’t care for it. People were polite, and I have no issue with non English speaking cleaning- but I could not help her understand what I needed. The the drive under the overhang at entrance was filled with vehicles on both sides- so my family had to back out to pick me up. Ice available first floor- thank you. The premises needed yard clearing- bench had no back to it- hazard? Rooms- it appears effort has been made to upgrade- but- the cosmetic changes did not dismiss the moldy appearing grout in shower, or the paint peeling everywhere. I’m sorry I expected a little more Probably will not stay in a Best Western again.

It’s a budget hotel, there are no bells or whistles, but it’s clean, comfortable, staff are responsive. If you need a place to crash before or after a flight, it definitely does the job.

The man on staff the night of Sunday 7/14 was very kind and helpful. I had to change my flight to Richmond from cville due to a cancelled flight and I got in a 1 a.m! He came to pick me up and that was incredibly helpful. My only suggestion is that a vehicle in better condition might be suggested, but at that hour I was grateful for about anything!)

Nice stay , room clean , great customer service, great service to the airport shuttle.
