Travelodge by Wyndham Thunder Bay

Old decor and in a run down area of town. Clean linens and towels but also had fruit flys in the bathroom sink every morning.

I know I need to be fair and transparent in my comments. When I arrived there was a group of several youth at the entrance. In particular I noticed them spitting on the ground by the front door and the handicapped parking. Rather disgusting. They weren’t guests and eventually left. Check in was ok. I was informed there was no internet. That in itself is a deal breaker. After being on the road for 15 hours I wanted to do some work without using my limited data. No such luck. The room was clean, it was ok. The bed was comfortable. The door to my room stuck open so you had to reef on it to close and to pull it open. I didn’t realize it didn’t shut and lock automatically. The bathroom was clean but the tub surround had seen better days. I can’t say it was uncomfortable but the property has seen better days. It was affordable and being close to the university probably makes it a reasonable choice. I travel across the country regularly and it was my first stay here. I will consider other options in the future.

We will never stay here again. The bathroom door stayed open 3 inches, the big dog down the hall scared me, no ice machine, old plug ins, and flys all over the room. We had to kill 4 before we slept. The mattress was horrific. It should have been burned 5 year's ago.

1st night I stayed with my children in a double bed room on the main floor. A lady who was drug up knocked on my door early in the morning looking for someone. The hotel staff told her they will call the police if she doesn’t leave. It was scary for me! Specially since I was traveling alone with my children. The 2nd night 2 days after we had a king size bed it smelled like urine. I didn’t sleep all night I will not return to this hotel in the future.

Worst I’ve ever stayed in. Room stinks, bed was terrible. Bathroom fan didn’t work, so there were water stains in the ceiling. Bed shirts haven’t been washed in a very long time, if ever. Very dirty. Won’t be going back there ever. Won’t have stayed but was travelling all day and very tired.

This hotel is old and shabby. We walked into our room and were met with an unbearable smell of wet dog. We asked to be transferred to a different room and were accommodated. The second room was adequate but cramped with a power bar strung about a foot off the floor and electrical cords plugged into it. The bathtub has been recoated and the surface was peeling off. Won’t stay here again.

I found a cockroach in me and my daughters room, the carpet was filthy, the boxspring sheets were stained and the room doesn't look like its been cleaned thoroughly in like ever. My son found a small worm on one of their pillows in their room and the box spring covers were filthy and there was garbage under one of the mattresses. I informed the staff at the front desk who gave me a card to send an email about my request for a refund. I told him we were leaving as we could not stay under these conditions as we have to travel home tomorrow and need to get some sleep. We checked out

This was a stop on our travels. The initial room we were assigned had a broken bed. Clearly obvious that it was broken so disappointed they would even rent it out. The girl on the front desk was fantastic and gave us a new room. This room was better. The toilet was a problem when flushing but didn’t didn’t bother us. We did make front desk aware so they could fix it for the next traveller hopefully.

Start off by saying the staff is amazing. Check in to breakfast. They were absolutely great. The room is very old. The bed was not too bad pillows. They could use some updating for a non-smoking hotel very strong, cigarette smell and pots smell on the second floor, loud ignorant people and I don’t think that they were travellers in the hallway well after midnight for 2024 the TV is very small, and the cable is extremely poor. Tried to watch a hockey game could not follow the puck and trouble. Seeing the score. Most hotels nowadays have upgraded televisions and much better reception also no Internet in the rooms they were having “ Issues” With Internet. Overall, I would pass on this hotel.

This property is definitely outdated. Stained walls, chipped and stained tub, thin scratchy blankets.. It could do with renovations. The front desk staff was lovely. The parking lot was covered in potholes, much like the area surrounding the hotel. This is the kind of hotel you stay in for a very quick sleep before packing up and continuing on your journey.
