Pike's Waterfront Lodge

We loved this hotel. Convenient to the airport, comfy beds, good breakfast, lots of fun things to look at. We would definitely stay here again.

Pikes is our hotel when flying out of Alaska

Nice large complex with a LOT of tour bus traffic. Timing is everything if you want to check in/out eat breakfast or do anything in the main lodge area or restaurant. Right off the highway and down from the airport. Pike has a bunch of construction going on in the resort area too. Would NOT recommend the restaurant if you can find something else. Menu does not have many options I would choose and the meals are very pricey. I had the prawns & scallops w/pasta which was a garlic soup broth (prawns were small fishy tasting shrimp). Husband ordered hot wings and chips which were pretty tasty. We’d stay here again but eat somewhere else

Large hotel close to Fairbanks airport. Many tour buses come and go. Very well kept up. Beautiful artwork throughout the buildings. Really good complementary breakfast. Only critique was I needed change for a twenty dollar bill and stood in line at the front desk for a long time. The person behind the counter handled many questions from a large group. Finally they were done and she (desk person) started to leave. I quickly said I needed change and she said she wasn’t an employee, rather a rent-a-car staff. I needed cash so I could leave money for housekeeping. Lucky for me, one of the car renting group offered to break a twenty. I would have noticed somebody like me and asked if I had a quick question. There was nobody else at desk. Strange.

Two things which contribute to my lack of total satisfaction are the poor internet service, and loud planes noise from the airport across the street. You can't do anything about the planes, better internet service would be appreciated.

I wasn't able to check in for at least 50 minutes because hotel couldn't see my reservation. Instead I had to contact Expedia via chat and ask them to call the hotel. Most of the reception staff is young and untrained, so it took forever to find the manager to solve the Expedia issue. I have no idea whose fault was it because no one kept me informed or even apologized. It's an old hotel trying to appear quirky. The amenities aren't great, so isn't the breakfast. I could hear my neighbor through the wall - not only watching tv, but snoring all night long. It all would be acceptable if the night in that hotel wouldn't cost so much money... At this price point it should be a completely different experience. The hotel shuttle is fast and convenient. Parking is big and easy. The room was clean and had good toiletries.

We stayed just a few hours after flying and arriving in the city early morning. The stay was pleasant.

Great location neer the airport. Free shuttle. Friendly staff. Rooms are just a bit itiny.

We enjoyed the breakfast, on site restaurant, and transfers to the train and airport. Location means a taxi for 25.00 to go anywhere…. Each way! I would choose differently next time.
