We always enjoy the charming Montvale; the comfortable 2nd floor lounging area, the quiet of a smaller hotel, the easy walk to downtown shops and restaurants. The rooms are comfortable and clean, the staff is pleasant, the communication caring and effective. Easy downtown parking too.

We were delighted with this unique, historic hotel! Wonderful service, beautifully decorated, gated parking, and convenient to anything downtown Spokane!

Charming hotel in downtown Spokane. The property is nicely restored and rooms are large. Parking felt secure, but it is a tight lot. Front desk staff was not friendly. Just slid room key across counter and did not offer any information regarding parking or the property. Rooms could use a small table.

We like staying in hotels with character and this place has it. Even though it is right next to the railroad track with the double windows you could barely hear it. Make it a point to go to the Gilded Unicorn in the basement and the can't miss Steam Plant, which is like nothing you'll ever experience. Neither are cheap, but because they are affiliated the discount on food helps. Free parking behind the hotel the first night and only $10 a night for the next two. Gated parking, two bars/restaurant across the alley with outside seating. Walking distance to everything downtown, so we rarely had to drive. There were several junkies in the area, but most could be pushed over with a finger, so we never felt threatened. We had a great stay and would definitely stay there again.

Montvale was amazing and the staff was wonderful. You could definitely tell it’s an older hotel because you could hear the dog and kids right next door, but the room and hotel itself more than make up for that.
We
We’re in town for Hoopfest and only issue was we were put in the overflow parking lot and we were told by front desk staff that we were allowed to park there the final day and the parking space issued us two citations within an hour for $78 a ticket. Called the Montvale and no one was available to help us on Sunday to take care of this. This was our other issue.

This hotel was amazing. Very cool history and look while still being cofortable and the restraunts attatched were very good. However, since im traveling with a yorkie i chose this hotel due to the pet frienly policy. If you're traveling with any animal over 5 pounds just be aware there is no pet relief area other than the park thats about 4 blocks away.

Colorful hotel with lots of personality and giant common area. Fun pub below called Guilded Unicorn. Did not appreciate having to pay extra for parking.

The building is 125 years old but well maintained. The property itself has a unique charm to it. The exterior walls are great, even just one floor above 1st you could barely hear any road noise (just the occasional emergency vehicle). The floors are creaky and the walls are thin though, which is to be expected of a building this age.
Overall the location is great for a lot of downtown venue activity (the Fox, Riverside Place, Knitting Factory, and more). There is gated/fenced parking for $10/day which is in near an encampment but everyone seemed to stay to themselves. The building has charm, and the bed was very comfortable.

Downtown Spokane has a lot of homeless people. The Montvale does a great job of making sure their property including the parking areas are secure. The employees are friendly and helpful, the rooms are quaint and clean. It's an older building with an older style, but very clean and comfortable.
