Super 8 By Wyndham Charleston WV

I paid and reserved my room thru the Hotels.com app around 4pm that day and I arrived at the hotel around 5:30pm. Upon entering the office to check in the girl at the desk pulled up my reservation and proceeded to check me in and after finding my prepaid room reservation I was told that I would need to supply her with a different credit/debit card so she could place a $100 hold on for “incidentals” as she said. So I did as requested (actually had to give her 2 different cards because she said she was having problems processing my cards). After about 15-20 minutes of her trying she was finally able to process the hold fee. Later in the evening around 9 pm she shows up at my room door to say that the room was non smoking and if I was smoking in the room I would be charged an additional $100 charge. I assured her that I was not smoking in the room and after a 10 min back and forth about the situation she finally left. It made me uncomfortable and did not want to stay there any longer but because my reservation was nonrefundable I had no choice to stay. Hotel was going thru renovations and was a little dirty and clustered in parking lot. I did get a newly renovated room and was not impressed at all. The bathroom doors were banged up and broken and fhe bathroom was dirty with muddy foot prints and dirty washcloths and towels thrown around. Would not recommend

Very peculiar place... looks pretty gross and filthy in the common areas and parking lot but very tidy, clean, and comfortable in the room

Hotel staff was doing the best they could. Overworked and fully booked when arrived. The hotel has three different signs saying what it is. Hard time finding parking. Room clearly had been a Smoking room at some point so that musty smell never quite goes away. Back side of hotel is extremely close yo off ramp of interstate. We had a fan on full blast along with the air running all night to cover up traffic. Mostly works unless semi truck hits trailer brakes. Everything was clean enough for a short stay and a deadbolt to feel safe enough. Not the cheapest in the area price wise but close. Just be aware what the price of a room comes with. Overall it was about what I expected on a weekend in the summer for less than a $100.
