This is not the first time we have stayed here. Between the other hotels downtown this is probably our favorite place to stay. We found parking the garage across the street, it was only $11. The rooms are spacious and clean, lots of light. Very nice bathroom. We would stay here again and again, thank you!

Historic hotel in downtown Des Moines. Area is decent. Parking is a pain as the hotel charges $33/night and the other options are street parking or a garage.

This is a beautiful hotel. We have stayed several times before. There is a parking garage right next door, it’s 10.00 to park for 24 hours. The room was spacious, clean, updated and quiet. Big bathroom and shower. Restaurants within walking distance.

Beautiful property and two dining options on the first floor; self-parking was very convenient

This is always a favorite stay of mine when flying to Iowa to visit family. The staff is lovely and it's one of the best hotels in the Midwest for a blend of high quality, dining, walkability, and price.

Very nice historic hotel. Excellent facility. Location is somewhat isolated for walkable activities and restaurants. $33 valet parking in Des Moines, Iowa seems excessive.

When we pulled up to unload… There were no signs or individuals to help us. My husband had to run into the front desk - he told them that we were checking in… asked about parking. The person said that the valet would be able to help us but never mentioned. How/where to unload Crazy!

Lovely historic hotel with very good restaurant/bar and large comfortable room. Helpful, friendly staff. Very cool speakeasy with craft cocktails that you use a "secret" door to access. Negatives but not very troublesome: I had a view of the parking deck, so that wasn't great, and I noticed they charged $30 for parking but the parking lot was empty, so there's that, but I wasn't driving anyway and may have been because of the weather. I was there during a storm so couldn't get a cab/uber from airport but lucked out as the hotel was picking up someone else and graciously offered to get me. That was a big deal!!

Love the quality and high end feel to the room and common areas. There is a nice parking garage down close by that has a hallway joining directly to hotel without having to step outside. It’s not free but 10$ a day is a lot cheaper than valet! Our favorite hotel per dollar, awesome breakfast /coffee place at Hob Nob! Haven’t had a chance to try the restaurant or speakeasy unfortunately. Will come back whenever we’re in area, thanks again for great experience

The HFD has been our go to property fir travel to DSM. Alyssa is fabulous as always. Very welcoming, attentive to your needs, etc. We had issues with our room and Cheyenne was very accommodating in moving us. The HFD use to be 5 stars all around. However, service was below average in the HBNOB, food was cold, and not as good as usual. We were disappointed since we know they hotel can do better.
