Hyatt Place Des Moines/Downtown

It was a good experience. We got our room quick and was cleaned the following day. Although, we noticed there was only one working elevator. We had a good option for breakfast and the hotel was accessible to parking garages and other points of interest

Hotel was dirty! When we check in there was dried feces on the bathroom floor of our room! The pool was dirty and only one elevator was working! Absolute worst hotel experience. We talked to the manager about our room and she said all she could do was take our parking off. If other hotels in the area weren’t sold out we would have moved hotels!

We stayed here with my kids for a NASCAR weekend. They had a softball tournament in town and the staff let the softball girls run around the hotel both nights from floor to floor screaming and yelling without any parental control. Opened up the hide-a-bed for my daughter to sleep on and it was covered in chips and the sheets were dirty. Told the staff and they gave me new sheets and didn’t send anyone up. Then we pulled the covers down on our suite king bed and it had a blood stain all the way through to the mattress protector. My kids were asleep so I went down to get more new sheets and they gave me sheets for a pull out bed. So back down I went and asked again and after 10 minutes they came back with more sheets that again didn’t fit our bed. I gave up and just layered the second sheets over our bed to protect against the stain. Left for the day thinking they would come up and clean both the hide-a-bed and our bed since I complained and expressed my frustration and not a single thing had been done when we got back that night. Also when we showed up to the room there were 2 towels and we had 4 individuals. Went and got more towels and they gave me 2 more but again no new towels were brought into the room for the second night. Also the pool didn’t have any towels the 2nd morning when the kids went for a swim. The staff were nice but clearly didn’t do or go out of their way. After all of this they offered to remove my $60 of parking fees for 2 days. Wow thanks

The young woman at the service desk was very helpful and great at her job. Check-in was smooth. We moved rooms twice unfortunately. The television was out of service in the first room. Upon entering the second room, it was clear that it had not yet been cleaned. I wish I had made note of the guest services gal, because she was really trying to help us out and was very understanding. The breakfast offered many options. Pool was very small, no hot tub. Overall, the room was acceptable but could definitely use a deep cleaning and updating. The furniture/fixtures were exceptionally worn. The sofa sleeper had stains and food crumbs. (We decided not to use it for sleeping and I shared a bed with my daughter.) The hotel was quiet. There were folks living/sleeping in the parking garage. For the price, I would not stay here again when visiting downtown Des Moines. Service: excellent. Room: not so good.

The staff were great and the location downtown was good but given how much I paid, and the expedia entry saying parking available, I didn’t then expect to pay $30 a night for parking! Also would be good if truely dairy free creamers at least were made available or margarine. It’s no use having breakfast included if you can’t really have breakfast!

The check in was very easy! Parking $30 a day but you can easily find parking on the street. The elevator went down soon after check in but they were fast and it didn’t take long for them to get it fixed! There are so many restaurants and things to do around the hotel. So you literally just can park and walk around the city! Location is great!!!

I will definitely look for a Hyatt whenever I travel. Very satisfied!

Property showing "wear and tear". Front desk is not always staffed and the front doors do not open until a certain time === if you go outside and want to get back into the lobby, good luck! Also, they don't make it clear that you should not turn in your room key if your car is in the garage (when checking out) as you won't get out of the parking garage. Probably wouldn't stay there again.

Check in was super easy and parking is just across the street. The only thing I would change is our room didn’t have a microwave.

This was my second stay here, I enjoyed it. The rooms are nice and spacious, parking is across the street for and additional $18. It was an easy walk to Wells Fargo Arena for a concert! I'll stay here again for sure!
