Candlewood Suites - Syracuse Airport, an IHG Hotel

I only stayed for one night to catch an early flight on the following day. I was hoping to get some sleep, but the AC unit didn’t work. It said to give it 15 minutes to start( because it supposedly was eco- friendly), but it didn’t turn on at all! The room was already hot, so I had to open the window to get some cooler air. With it came the noise of the interstate, which made for a bad sleep. The bed was ok, with a firm mattress, but all the furniture was old, and the cabinet in the bathroom had water damage on the side. The bathroom was clean though.

I put my father up at this hotel because of delays in recent flights. I’ve stayed at this brand before and thought it was a great choice. We were extremely disappointed to find the room was not clean, the freezer was iced open and frost and ice everywhere. The bathroom was dirty with prints from the previous guest. Hole in the vanity. No hair dryer or coffee option. Expensive night because many hotels were booked for a national event in town. I’m not only disappointed and disgusted by the room but was embarrassed to have chosen this hotel for my parents. Would never recommend again.

The front desk representative stated that the key card processor was down. Didn't make any effort to check local availability. Even after prepaying, stated Expedia will refund you. With no other option, i called IHG corporate, who found availability at a nearby affiliate hotel. They called the front desk several times while I was on hold. The representative avoided the calls and didnt answer. Called the police, and falsely accused me of harassing. When all she needed to do, was answer the call from corporate and confirm the key card device issue. While in the lobby, IHG went ahead and rebooked me thankfully as I was a stranded traveler. They stated they will investigate what occurred as well. I truly hope no one else has this experience and at 1am have to seek shelter elsewhere.

Very convenient to the airport and a vegan bakery was close by!

They advertise having a shuttle to the local airport. In fact, the shuttle hasn’t run for several years; they just didn’t bother to update their web page. False advertising causing us major problems.

Extremely disappointed with Expedia for this hotel. It was advertised as having parking and an airport shuttle which was why we booked it. Only to arrive and have the hotel tell us they no longer offer a shuttle and that we could not park here longer than our stay.

It was a functional place for a night near the airport. All a bit run down but the room was big with a kitchenette as advertised. The highlight was very friendly and helpful staff after a long flight.

This property is the closest to the airport, which was the reason we chose to stay here. The property has not been maintained in many years, which is evident by the disrepair in the lobby, the hallways, the elevator, and the room itself. The kitchenette had burn marks on the wall behind the stove. The walls were bare, with holes where art work might have hung. There was a distinct marijuana smell in the hallways. We had to wait 10 minutes at the check in desk before a single person showed up so we could get in. Definitely do NOT recommend this property.
