Red Roof Inn Syracuse

About the only good thing I can say about this property is that it is close to the I-90 exit ramp and the check in and checkout experience was reasonable. Everything else was below par, there were no towels in the room, the bedsheet had a stain and the bed linen was yellowing in places, the phone was not working, necessitating us to walk down two flights to reception, the door and door lock were very hard to open, and there was no coffee maker in the room (it was a part of the listed amenities). Definitely not recommended.

The lobby and elevator smelled like weed. Soap/ shampoo dispensers empty. I had a hand towel in the bathroom. That’s all. One hand towel. The room smelled awful. Floor was very dirty. My flight was heading out in a few hours otherwise I would have went somewhere else. 0 stars. Never ever again.

Very nice parking facility next to your room - was very useful for disabled.

The first room we got was filled with flies. We asked to be moved and they were very nice about it and moved us . Unfortunately the second room was worse. There were dead roaches in the tub and toilet. Roaches crawling on the ceiling and around the bed. A few dead roaches on the bed. As I was on the phone trying to have this resolved I pulled the covers back and discovered what appeared to be dried blood on the sheets. There also strands of hair everywhere and several dead roaches on the floor. I did check for bed bugs and did not see any but this space was certainly dirty. The bathroom was not at all cleaned . It looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in awhile. I would not recommend staying here especially if you are traveling with small children.

The floor in my room was dirty. Someone overturned a garbage bin on the landing of the stairwell on my first night there. It was cleaned up by the next day, but there was what looked like spilled tomato sauce in the same place that following night. On my last night there, a man attacked a truck in the parking lot with a tire iron, breaking the windows and denting the hood and doors. It made me fear for the safety of my car and others in the lot. And when I tried to call reception to report what had happened, I couldn't get through. On the bright side, the staff were pleasant and brought extra towels and washcloths per my request.

We did not feel safe. When we arrived there were police in the parking lot resolving a domestic issue in one of the rooms. A woman asked us to keep an eye out for her dog that had been harmed by her partner and ran away. The area felt run down, someone was banging on a door until about 2am, and someone tried to get into our room at about 3am and we had to tell at them to leave. Luckily we had double locked the door as the first lock didn't work and we had to rely on the deadbolt. I tried to call the front desk to report the banging but nobody answered. The room itself has been recently updated. New furniture, new paint. The exterior is very rundown. The room smelled strongly of chemical cleaners. We will definitely not return. This is the second poor experience we have had with a Red Roof Inn, so I doubt we will return to any other location.

Room was clean and comfortable. Only needed a quick nights sleep to catch an early flight so didn’t get to see much of the area. Checkin was easy and very polite staff.

We had problems from initially being denied a room despite having a reservation, to getting a room that I didn't reserve. After the worker called the manager, we got a room different than our reservation. The door was busted and barely closed. There wasn't a microwave or a mini fridge. The room reeked of marijuana. There was a party going on in the wooded area next to the parking lot. Dogs were barking everywhere. People were throwing buckets of water? and trash off the second floor walkway. The small, grassy patch next to our door smelled of urine. I thought that I was at a frat house and not a hotel.

I love how close this is to the airport, and how easy it was to find, and how easy it was to check in and out.

Staff was friendly room was clean the towels were a little thin and the king bed was very comfortable. Our scheduled taxi didn’t show at 3:45am for a ride to the airport the night manager made a call and we had a taxi on site in less than 20 minutes. He definitely saved the day.
